Not the best example, as using dyed cloth isn't harder, making it is, and weaver has a million recipes that use cloth and yarn.
Which is wrong, because for the EXP you get, cotton shirt fronts are definitely NOT 21. Consider that making cloth, a supposedly rank 20 craft gets you around 180-220 skill per vs a rank 21 that gives 280-320, would you think that by looking at those recipes that was the case? I wouldn't. Looking at that list of things to skill up on, I would have ignored shirt fronts and backs (backs give less, by the way, and are easier to make and give less skill, YG doesn't tell me that even though they're listed as the same rank). Cotton sleeves is listed at rank 20, which it isn't, and gives less exp than cloth. YG would have me believe they were equal, where as a weaver would have told me not to waste my time skilling up on them.
Again, Dodoskin Vamps and Leather are a mere 1 rank difference, yet the exp they yield is different and Dodoskin Vamps are harder to make, so I suspect that's wrong as well. Leather Vamps also listed at 21 is wrong, and you will blow shit up trying that.
There's a lot YG won't tell you, or is just wrong (currently - as 2 weeks ago nearly everything was wrong, yet it still looks like they're just guessing), so using that as your one stop shop for answers isn't going to work all the time. And this is different from posting questions that are easily answerable, because the questions aren't always easy, or obvious, or sometimes even answerable. We're just lucky that certain crafts up to a point are pretty easy to figure out, but things only get harder and more obscure, and as they do, YG won't answer nearly as much, as quickly as a person could.
I could ask a rank 35 weaver what he made to get to where he is, and he might answer me, or I could fumble around on the internet trying to find an answer.
And that's all it is, finding answers, and asking is a viable solution to that, as is YG, and they aren't mutually exclusive. So why would anyone just use 1 method?
edit: and if so much is wrong and unreliable about weaver, how much of that is wrong and unreliable for other crafts? I don't even want to think about shit like cooking or woodworking, cause you can bet your ass that when the tmes comes for me to skill woodworking past 10, I'm asking first and using YG last.
