As much as some people would hate it I'd like to see an auto-synth for synths 15+ levels below you. As in...you have stack of 100 crystals, hit a button, it starts hasty handing them one by one until finished (like all crafting is done in WoW.) Just keep the base failure rate of hasty hand, remove all potential for HQs, and eliminate the 5sp or whatever you would get per synth. Who has a legitimate objection against that?
As long as they eliminate any SP / exp gain from doing this, it would be cool. Although I would rather them

    a) still make it a manual process, but a "Quick Synthesize" option instead of regular synthesize.
    b) force 0 SP / EXP gain as a result of using Quick Synthesize.
    c) Not have it work on an entire stack of items, but you have to still do it one by one.

I just dont' see them allowing you to burn through an entire stack of mats automatically. With the above though, you still save a ton of time. It's like Hasty Hand only you save a few steps and you don't have to wait for the option to appear, the failure rate is more reasonable than it is with hasty hand, and you get 0 exp / sp.

Hasty hand just needs to stop giving 100% or 50% durability loss on a fail. Surely it would be bad enough just having to complete the synth manually? You can recover from 50% loss sometimes but I figure if it was always -30% would be people would use it more.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a handful of (hopefully tiered) recipes to quickly grind from 1 to 10 on Armorer, Blacksmith, and Leatherworker? Preferrably easily-farmed materials... Those classes seem to be some of the more difficult to just grind away from the get-go like Culinarian gets fish > sand, and Carpenter gets logs > lumber > parts.

Leather is the easiest. Sheepskin -> Sheep Leather -> Sheepskin Vamps. This will even take you all the way to like 15ish for the vamps.

For Blacksmith, I think I just did bronze nuggets andfor a while, but I don't remember where they stop.

Man, I gotta' stock up on assloads of Willow Chips before I go slaughter sheep? ;/

Though, I suppose I could easily make a ton of it myself... I just loved easy crap like:

    - One-shot a Star Marmot right outside of town for free Moko Grass
    - Moko Grass > Hempen Yarns > Hempen Cloth > Hempen Fent
    - No other materials required.

lol. Your carpenter is high, so you can probably make all the chips you need in like 5-6 synths.

You don't need that much, and the LW NPC sells them for pretty cheap as well. 1 skin + 1 chip gives you 4 leathers, so it works out nicely if you have a stack of skin (easy to get from leves) and some chips.

I discovered today that if you already have a local leve from a previous reset that leve will not show up again until you hand it in. Once you hand it in it may appear even in the current cycle if it wasn't there before you handed it in.

I dont' mind this at all, it makes it like 11's crafting system. Either you fail or you succeed. Isnt' that what we want? The issue is that the fail rate is not appropriate for such high level differences, where you should suceed with at least a 90-95% rate.

There needs to be an ability similar to Hasty Hands that doesn't favor any specific type, and just simulates if you had pressed Standard 10 times in a row.

edit: actually I guess that's exactly what bruiser said a few posts ago

Yeah but if I'm making a synth that gives 0 SP with the appropriate support I would have 100% success rate doing it manually unless I spammed bold and got really unlucky. Why should I ever get a 100% durability loss fail on that when using hasty hands?

I agree with what qpoiuwer said, I've suggested similar in the past. They could make it something hard to get if they want, 40+ and bought with 25k marks or whatever but it works with all crafts. Ok some people might want it now, but it would give us something to aim for as I'm struggling to spend all my marks on things I find very useful right now. There are no longterm goals with crafting marks.

I don't think this is true. There are times where you fail 5-6 Standards in a row, regardless of what level you are and what level the item is.

Then you succeed an equal amount of times with no durability loss and complete the item. It may happen as you say, but as it stands I haven't failed a low level item when using nothing but standard.

I can't believe you never experienced the occasionnal streak of "standard" failures that can happen even on the easiest synths, even with the highest support (cue RNG problems in this game).

I like the idea of buying new abilities (maybe even items ?) with Guild marks. Obtaining Guild marks from leves sure beats the "guild item of the day" crap in FFXI.

I've experienced that but never on easy synths with the correct support. Even if I did fail 5 or so in a row that's what, 50% durability loss? I'm still going to complete the synth due to it being easy because at that point I'll throw in some abilities (usually Tender Touch) to ensure it. I'm talking synths that give next to 0 SP however, the chances of failing so many standards that the synth fails is next to impossible.

I'm sure SE qill add new things for marks, hopefully they are useful and not on the same level as 300 for one crystal. They really should lower that to a level where you consider it. 50 perhaps?

Can anyone give me advice on Blacksmith 30 gear

Like for head I been using coif which is 6 control. But if I wear Canvas Hat (doesnt even favor BSM) , I get 3 control And 6 mag craft. So better off just wearing the Canvas Hat?

Or is there any testing been done on what is actually better, control or mag craft?

SE stated a few weeks ago or something that each recipe uses either magic craftsmanship or craftsmanship. Until we find out which recipes use what (or when they spill the beans), we won't know what's better.

In your example, if the recipe you're doing uses craftsmanship, you're better off with the coif, since the magic craftsmanship stat would be pointless. However, if the recipe used magic craftsmanship, then the hat would probably benefit you a lot more.

Is there some secret to getting HQs that I just don't know about? Going through a stack of +2 logs without a single HQ is really sucks, especially while watching the weaver next to me churn out hq yarn like there's no tomorrow

Either choice is useless in the scenario you present since nobody in their right mind uses Rapid anymore and according to that same SE reveal thats all control is for.
