Ok, any advice Leather 26-30ish?
Same thing you've been doing since like level 10.
Hide -> Leather -> Vamps
BTW, anyone know what the R10 Culinarian ability Harominze does?
Doesn't it stop aetherial sparking? Not sure if it does anything to unstable elements, but I'm almost pretty sure about the sparking.
Yeah SE said that control is to reduce (or to get rid of) aetherial sparking, which seems quite useless for me personally. I have never stacked up on control, but I honestly haven't seen the sparks appear even once aside from touch ups, dunno if some people actually get sparking regularly, if you do, how?
I've been saving them ever since I hit 20 and started getting them as leve rewards. Once I got Leather 26, I had 4.5 stacks of hides. If you haven't been saving them like that, it might be harder. BUT, fear not. You can actually buy them and still profit. Check this out:
(4 leather / hide) x (12 vamps / leather) x (210g / vamp) = 10,080g / hide
net revenue from selling vamps to NPC. That is, of course, ignoring the cost of shards / crystals. But that's not very much. Only 1 ice crystal and a couple shards / hide. So knock like 3k off of that, and as long as you can buy hides for 7k or less you'll still break even or profit.
Well that's gross revenue not net. It's not really fair to say "if you ignore all costs your net revenue will be through the roof!!"
1 Ice Crystal - 1500g
4 Water Shards - 150g x 4 = 600g
20 Wind Shards - 420g x 20 = 8400g
20 Ice Shards - 120g x 20 = 2400g
1 Walnut Chips - free or whatever
1 Buffalo Hide - free or whatever
12900g direct cost + cost of hide n chips for your 5 synths. You're never going to turn a profit, not that that is the point. You're right though that vamps is the best way to skill up.
Nobody should be synth spamming at this point with shard reductions right around the corner...
Harmonize decreases aetherial sparking. It doesn't always do anything if the item isn't a "finished item." It won't get rid of sparks entirely unless they are barely there... it's like it only reduces the sparks by one notch, when sparks seem to have 3(?) intensities.
Alright, so I guess in summary, Harmonize is terrible.
Yeah that's a good idea. Anyone who is sitting on a huge mound of shards/crystals should be breaking and selling them ASAP. Prices are going to drop a ton and you'll be able to rebuy for a lot less. If vendoring costs stay the same there should be a ton of opportunities to skillup for profit by vendoring.
Yeah, that's literally all I have ever used Harmonize for.
I can't imagine it ever being worth the amount of points it takes to equip unless it comes to crafting end-game gear recipes that are well above the level caps and sparks become common place... Even then, I imagine there will be plenty other abilities that would still have priority.
Crafting is going to be so worthless by PS3 release. Already people are selling the rank 43 THM weapons for under 150k. Considering what gil is worth in this game that's like selling an end-game weapon in FFXI for 20k.
