    vintage robe

you'll want weaver high enough to repair this as linen fent is crafted only, and you may not see people running around wanting to repair your robes (unless your offering alot)

no more vamps either with boar/raptor/peiste so...!

(toadskins that are rare as hell to find in wards on my server average 25-35K a skin to give you an idea )

I have some questions regarding general crafting strategy people follow. I've recently started playing and have been trying to get all crafts to level 10 before I decide to choose a craft I want to focus in. Through the bit of crafting that I have done, I find I am very overwhelmed and sometimes confused as to what I should be making, and what my progress should look like.
My first question is how much sp should I be expecting to get per synth, and when is it the best time to move on to a new recipe? Level 7 tanner atm and Ive moved to sheep vamps, but still have a lot of sheepskin left over that I could still be using for slightly lower sp... Is it better to grind and use up all my materials for lower gains or attempt the next recipe?
I did alchemy to 10 using muddy waters, but still seems feasible to continue for another level or two even at 100sp/synth ( albiet it would take forever, but seeing as higher levels ive heard u need 100k+ sp to level, what's an extra 50 synths when you need possibly thousands?)

My other question is what's up with the random sp gains on the same synth and same level... I can get 130sp then next synth get 180... I've even gotten less sp for finishing with higher quality than a previous synth... I don't think fatigue kicked in cause I'm only lvl 7 and I've never seen the message pop up.

    Thanks!

Always use up all of your materials. For most crafting jobs every synth=gil minimum from NPCing
Your first fatigue will be at 17 if you get there within 1 week.

You should aim for 3-6 lvls above you. This typically results in 280-400 SP per synth. The low 300s will succeed most of the time.
You should have no problem getting to 30 on any crafting class within 2 week of solid grinding (3 hours a day?) on that class (barring materials being scarce.

About the random SP, it seems that every craft has an internal difficulty modifier. the harder it is for you to finish the more SP.
Sometime you will hit standard 5 times for no fails and 20% each, this yields 200SP
Others you will fail 4 times but still succeed, this yields 220SP

Vintage robe seems only useful for weavers and alchemists. I guess it really is velvet until we start getting dodores. My LS can fight it, problem is the spawn conditions are never right when we do NMs.

Well its same thing as velvet robe , just more stats

even though its not "optimal" you still get a decent amount of stats, same as Dodore Doublet isn't optimal for several of my crafts but I still would wear it, but you'd probably have a higher chance at vintage robe then dodore doublet since you have to wait for the drops, while vintage robe is all over the wards .

I think you underestimate the stat nerf when you use gear that isn't favoured. I currently use velveteen gown and I'm sure that will be better than an unfavoured vintage robe or even a dodore doublet for the classes that can't use it. I heard something like -40% which would take a dodore doublet down to about 16 craftmanship when unfavoured. It seems the only real option for GLD, ARM and BSM is dodore doublet while ALC can choose between the doublet and vintage robe depending on which they get first, WEA and CUL only have the robe and then CRP and TAN have no end-game crafting piece. This makes it obvious to me that another end-game crafting piece will be added in the near future. There definitely should be a CRP/TAN/WEA/CUL piece as good as dodore anyway, it's unfair on these classes to not have one. Oh and they should add a linen gown as well.

ah thought ya were talking about robe , didn't see you mention gown, I use robes myself for all crafts
Doesn't seem terrible to me Craftsmanship 15-> 9 mag craft 9->6 (velvet robe) >.>
don't really have trouble doing 300-450SP crafts for anything (WVR/BSM/GLD/ALC/TAN/ARM) in the 30+ ranges
atm lvling weaver to be able to use vintage + make linen fent

Yeah Seph probably should have mentioned what his main crafts were, I just happened to know from the mining thread. Actually I think the velvet shirt might be better than velvet gown for GLD, but I didnt bring up the robe because I knew he wouldn't want it.

lol well my main craft is in my sig too but I guess not everyone knows all the icons.

Velveteen shirt seems useless to me. It has same craft as the gown but no magic craft. Gown also has 1 DEX which GLD uses. I'm just going to stick with velvet gown until I get dodore. Although we may get a linen gown at some point.

I was disappointed we didn't get a Velveteen Doublet.

I think the game needs to move away from having all this predictable gear every 10 ranks anyway. It's laziness.

I think it is partly due to the horrid dying system they have in place. There are already like 5 billion dyes to deal with-- without predictable gear tiers there would be 25 billion. They really need to just put dye shops in the game, or at least make the dyes more general and apply to all equips that can be dyed.

Without tiers of gear made from tiers of mats it just confuses people. S-E didn't put much thought into their tiers though. Especially the rank 1 sheep stuff that people would never, ever want needing buffalo leather to make.

Since we already have what we have I'd like to see a way to recolor a gear piece. Item + new dye + expensive vendor item or something = new color item.

Anyone have a link to that lodestone post that talks about which stats effect main and offhand HQ in crafting? These are so goddamn annoying to find :/

    Edit:
NVM, found it by searching furrycore

Did anyone ever figure out which DoH/synths use craftsmanship, and which use magic craftsmanship?

Anyone know what "Recent requests" is when you're in the recipe history section of starting a synth? I thought it could be based off previous leves until I saw items which don't have leves. There's even items there I've never synthed.

I think they are the recipes you receive as part of your reward when handing in a completed local leve
