    The goldsmithing skills are good for HQing. Epiphany, Manipulation and Inspiration. The TAN ability Clean Slate is also good for HQing however it may not be suitable for high rank synths like the Champions Lance.

    Better off trying to HQ a Banneret. Better stats and easier to HQ imo.

    True that. Well if no one gives you a good answer before I get home I'll ask NI's primo crafters and post up.

    Perfection (7), HotG (7), Resolution (5), Assemble (5). Get your vitality way up there, use the stat converters to get an extra 15 Vit. You should be sitting around 170-185 vit if possible. It is a Craftsmanship synth so stack Control and craftsmanship. Control>Craftsmanship imo for this synth.

    This is a pretty high level synth and can go bad in a hurry. There are 2 tacts you can take, one is using all NQ mats and trying to bold all the way through. This is tough and you will probably end up NQing it and struggling to complete.

    The other is to get as many +2/+3 mats as possible and just get through the synth relying on initial quality and selective bolding and then relying on Touch-Up to get the HQ. Ideally you are starting with 150-200 quality for a good shot at a +2. Resolution usually pops early in the process, use it as early as possible. If the synth is being a bitch (like it likes to do sometimes) just Standard through resolution(you will still get increases quality gains, just not the same as if bolding.) Only Bold Spam when HotG is up. Otherwise just get through the synth as fast as possible and use touch-up.

    This synth is my bane and can go bad in a hurry. Don't mess around with unstables as it likes to go boom often. (I found this out the hard way after having a synth with all +2 or better mats destab/restab off a failed "Perfection".) wasted over 100 quality

    Quick question about HotG: I do know it turns your success rate into crap while decreasing the amount of durability you lose, but will it also lessen how much of a hit my quality takes if an element goes unstable?

    If an element goes chaotic and explodes, you lose whatever amount you are supposed to be loosing quality wise as Hotg only effects the dura portion not the quality. Chaotic explosions, you lose an average of 1-6 dura (it could probably go up to 10 but never seen it that high)

    Also the "lowered success rate" is not really noticeable, in fact it seems about same as normal crafting to me (flashing orb has like 80% fail rate for me anyway with or without Hotg)

    As far as I'm concerned

    white orb = good
    yellow = ok
    red = risky
    flashing = fucks you over
    unstable wind = bad
    unstable earth = sort of bad
    unstable lighting = FFFFFFFUUUUUUUU

    Peiste Leather --> Peiste Skin Cesti Covers --> Peiste Cesti
    Tarred Voyager's Belt
    Dark-brown Toad Leather --> Dark-brown Toad Leather Vamps

    Pretty much it.

    thx for advice ~

    the Belt seems nice other than having to prep 5 mats,

    the peiste stuff looks painful and they are both listed as r40 synths?

    Cesti covers are rank 50 and take a rank 35 alchemy sub. Belt and vamps are 48. Don't know exact level of finished Peiste Cesti. Since the game is barren nobody submits changes to YG and most of the recipe levels for stuff 30+ are dead wrong for every craft.

    so i am new to the whole HQ thing. the highest rank craft i have is alchemist and HQing with this class is pretty boring. +1s and +more are pretty boring so i never bothered to pursue anything. but now i am ranking up my culinary skills specifically so to HQ2 blacklip oysters for black pearls. It is like a rank 21 synth, so what would be a good rank (earliest rank) to start attempting this? i have the fishcleaning skillbook and about 60 blacklip oysters and 15 +3s. My goal is a at least 2 HQ2s for my personal use (for black pearl rings) and the rest after that is for resale.

    This thread doesn't really get replies anymore but I'd figure I'd ask anyways. Is HQing low level mats really incredibly difficult? With packed stats and using quality increasing abilities I'm having serious trouble getting anything over +1, even with 500ish quality at the end. Most of the time I can't even get +1. Some garbage like lumber I can HQ like crazy but if I want to HQ leather/fur/parts I can't do shit.

    For goldsmithing 40-50 you can cut gems, continue making Silver Chakram, White Coral Arrowhead, Electrum Ring, and your main synth will probably be Silver Francisca. There is no way to do it without hemorrhaging money so I would skip it unless you really want it.

    You'll probably get sick of poor sp from fish breaks around 35 for cooking so that would be a good place to use the HQs. Would have to be much higher to get a decent chance on the NQs.

    Edit: of course I say I'm having massive trouble with HQing mats and I immediately get a +3 I wanted right after posting...

    It's 100% random, I've never got something higher than a +1 from trying to HQ materials either.

    Question for carpenters. Which tool you prefer for HQ'ing finished items? Stat wise hammer seems better choice, but been hearing that main hand is better for +1/+2/+3, and off hand for increased quantity of items.

    I been trying both and been getting better results with saw. Item I mostly been doing is Crab Bow. Done like 30ishsynths during new moon (no idea if it matters lol) with +3 coral and +3 shell, and occasional +1 oak composite bow. 10 hammer/20ish saw, stats were reassigned to favor the tool in use.

    5 +2 bows (all with saw)
    7 +1 bows (1 with hammer)
    and crap load of NQ's.

    Im thinking of which r30 skill Im gonna get 1st, resolution or manipulation.

    I have done 52 Crab bow synths to date. All +3 shell/coral. 12 with +3 spikes, 16 with +2 spikes, 24 with +1. All +1 or better composite bow. (2, +3's and 12 +2's, the rest +1). I haven't seen a difference in off hand/main hand. But I use a +2 saw and only a +1 hammer. I have +2'd on both saw and hammer, +1'd on both, and +3's on saw only. I am not sure if thats coincidence, or what. It's possible because I have a more Vit oriented stat set-up. I think it has more to do with where you get your quality in relation to your touch-ups. all 3 times I have +3'd a crab bow my quality has been around 400 (385,390, 412). Personally I shoot to get to 350 quality+ but still have around 80+ durability left when I finish. You really need +2/3 bows and spikes for this.

    So short answer, imo use whatever gives you highest mag. craft/control. Set your stats up for that tool, and use +2/3 mats on bow and spikes. This will give you a much better chance to +3. Mats are the key to HQing imo.

    The market on this has gone to shit with +2's going for 1.5 mil now so I only try the synth with all +2/3 mats. Even a +2 is not profitable anymore unless you farm all your own mats.
