You don't use HQ ammunition? FUCKING GIMP.
You don't use HQ ammunition? FUCKING GIMP.
If you have the free time to do so then sure. But I don't see the point when they have already hinted that the level cap will increase as soon as 1.21.
So unless they plan on not making any new tools to accommodate the level cap increase, the gold tools will become obsolete at that point.
Very curious to me, especially with the amount of work the gathering tools require, that they would just be marginally better than the current highest crafted tools we have (that can have materia attached, as well) when more than likely we will have lvl5X tools in just a couple months.
But maybe they just for novelty.
I'd hope (but have nothing really to base this on) that the tools would somehow get higher stats when the cap goes up, or that they are otherwise somehow upgraded to remain the best in the game.
Looks like Perfection may be nerfed for low-level classes.
I did four synths as 10GSM (270xp when successful) and attempted Perfection on each one. 3 out of the 4 tries, I got the "You attempt to use Perfection, but there is no effect" message.
I've used Perfection ~hundreds of times on CRP and quite a few times on WVR, ALC, and LTW (the highest class of those three is 26). I have gotten that message exactly once, ever.
Interesting, I was using Perfection on my CUL from 10~15 and noticed it failed some, but not terribly much. It's nerfed for sure, I still got more fails than pre-1.20 patch, but certainly nowhere near a 75% fail rate. I'd say it was nerfed appropriately considering it doesn't cost points anymore.
They also seem to have nerfed Brands, I finished off ARM 49->50 post 1.20 and Brands seemed far less effective. At least in my experience, pre 1.20 you had a very good chance (~90%) of getting rid of the unstable element. Now it feels more like a 50% chance, at least in the few dozen times I used them. Small data set for sure, but I'm pretty certain they're less effective by some amount. So it's very likely they went in and adjusted the potency of a lot of the abilities.
Known issue. The Brand of [Element] abilities are not functioning currently and the fix is planned for 1.20b. Feel free to remove it in the mean time; it's not doing anything for you.
There's probably a better source for this info, but this is the best I could find.

Ah, good to know. But are they completely broken, or just not as good as they should be? All that post says is there's a bug with them currently. I'll waste a slot for even a slightly increased chance to get rid of unstable lightning...
Did it ever get rid of unstable? I thought it was that you popped it in advance and something like "Brand of x kept the x element from going unstable" would appear. But yeah it doesn't work properly right now for sure. Popped Lightning, got unstable lightning next step. SE!
Or am I confusing with "kept x element from going chaotic" maybe?
I always thought it did both. It would give a message when it prevented it going unstable (even when already unstable), so it certainly did that, not 100% though. But also if the element was already unstable, doing 3 waits for the brand duration would usually make it go stable. But as I was saying before, since 1.20 they don't seem to help when an element is unstable like they used to. I guess we'll have to wait till 1.20b to see what they meant by "bug".
I'm under the impression that the brand-of abilities are completely useless as of right now, but I have no personal data to back that up. I would imagine the ability slot is better spent on something else for now, unless you don't have anything else to replace it.
I'm not sure if there was some proper way to use the brand-of abilities, but if so, I was never aware of it. Waiting? I never thought to do that. I thought the whole purpose of the brand abilities was so you didn't have to waste durability using wait. I used them like this:
• Element goes unstable
• Wait and/or standard until brand comes up or element goes chaotic
• Use Brand of Element
• Continue crafting as usual
Sometimes it didn't seem to do a damn thing, but most of the time the instability went away after a couple rounds. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think it was possible to go chaotic while the brand was up.
I only use brand of lightning. Fuck lightning.
Lightning just annoyingly slows the whole thing. Wind is the bane of my existence.
Lightning is fucking ANNOYING. I cannot stress how much I fucking hate lightning. The amount of progress you make isn't worth the durability that you lose as a result. Keeping any element unstable for too long is just dangerous.
Brands weren't 100% in any respect. I do seem to remember having an element go unstable, explode, etc while the respective brand was active. The brands seemed to increase the chance for the element to go stable/reduce the chance to go unstable while doing any action. I chose to just use Wait to prevent risking the chance of an explosion, and it almost always worked pre 1.20.
Does anyone know the craft level for Rosewood Lumber? Is it 45 (the optimal rank)?
Mooglebox says 46.
anyone got a guide to lv weaver from 9 to 50
Trying to spend the less possible on it
thanks :D

Look at the levels, pick what is cheapest/easiest to craft and can help you in later levels. Leves 40+ are useful but you will need leather at a decent level as a lot of the synths are dated.
This is kind of general advice but... do a ton of leves and use the byproducts on the side. Cotton, Velveteen, Linen are all used for a ton of stuff at their respective ranges. Aim for 5-8ish above leve, 10 is highest you can attempt.
Go look at mooglebox or your database of choice, find synths with a low amount of materials that you can pump out (or those that use a lot of the same junk). Typically 1-2 cloth + thread stuff.
Weaver in particular is pretty stupid in the 40s so I'm just doing all leves. Alternative is WOOL FELT WOOL KARAKUL FELT.
Gonna look for a few notable recipes though.
15 - Cotton Yarn: 2x Cotton Boll
17 - Undyed Cotton Cloth: 2x Cotton Yarn
17 - Rope Belt: 3x Straw
23 - Cotton (underwear) new recipe: 1-2x Undyed Cotton Cloth, 1-2x Cotton Yarn depending on race/piece
25 - Dew Thread: 2x Diremite Web
26 - Undyed Velveteen: 1x Cotton Yarn, 1x Dew Thread
28 - Velveteen Rope Belt: 2x Undyed Velveteen
33 - Linen Yarn: 2x Flax
34 - Undyed Linen: 2x Linen Yarn
35 - Dated Velveteen Halfgloves: 1x Undyed Velveteen, 1x Cotton Yarn
39 - Cotton Pantalettes (old recipe): 2x Undyed Cotton Cloth, 1x Dew Thread
44 myself, 40-> 44 was all just leves and trash exp from Linen/Flax rewards. Long road to 50 still.
And preferably only do leves in your range that you can do without leaving town (red Roegadyn card).
Finally got my Alembic of the Luminary just now... and fucking lol at it being oversized and slapped on your back (as I am assuming is the same for the rest of the tools). You still reach to your hip like the normal motions, but it vanishes off your back and appears in your hand as the standard size... then reappears your back all inflated when you put it back. Pretty ghetto.
