The convenience of being able to make your own food and potions is something I think will be more attractive as time goes on!
Plus not everyone has cook friends it seems, as I've made a pretty penny post-patch
I'm not sure if this is possible, but can different areas have higher rates of getting a specific item that both share while gathering? I'm trying to get oak logs to level carpenter at Iron Lake, and am shooting for the -1 sweetspot, but the rate I get them compared to sun lemons is quite low. Wondering if I should go elsewhere.
Yeah I am pretty sure different areas have different gather rates for the same items. I can't think of a specific instance of it right now, but I'm sure I've experienced it.
I'm trying out Treespeak at the moment....it's a tad better. At least I can predict when I'm getting an oak log. At Iron Lake it was a crap shoot between oak log, sun lemon, and sagolil sage lol.
Is there a lower level area that has oak logs? You'd probably be better off there.
The grade of the area shouldn't matter (complete guess -- if you do go this route, your only option is Glory[Grade4]), but the other items in the area should. If you're in a zone that has a bunch of stuff with sweet spots all clustered together, obviously you're going to end up with a lot more other crap than if you go to a zone where the sweet spots are more spread out. Since I'm not finished pulling the new data for all the zones, I can't really comment. I have noticed, however, that the items considered to be "rare", seem to be a lot more rare now, than they used to be pre-1.21. I got Oak Logs a lot faster in Treespeak before 1.21 than I did after. I was farming Oak Logs for my CRP luminary -- really glad I got 95% of that done pre-1.21.
Speaking of gathering and weird results though, can anyone confirm/deny whether you can obtain Lavender in Emerald Moss? The patch notes say you can, but I did a good 60+ whacks before I gave up trying to get any. I don't actually care about Lavender, I'm just trying to update my Botany Spreadsheet.
Edit: Just logged data for Drybone. Despite what the patch notes say, I can't find Ash Logs after 64 chops making sure to hit all 5 logging points. Can anyone confirm/deny that, too?
I have found ash logs while loggin cactus at drybone
What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck!? I deliberately was skipping cacti because ITS A FUCKING CACTUS! Why would it have wood--argh. I will go back out there and do more logging. I should've known they'd throw logic out the window once I saw you could get Mahogany/Oak from the same tree, and Onions/Carrots out of trees as well.
In related news, my Botany Spreadsheet is fully updated for 1.21 changes except for the Drybone Ash Log and Emerald Moss Lavender.
It used to make more sense actually, they changed it to make the zones more homogenous. A boon to gatherers but a bane to the roleplaying purists!
There's only ever one cactus spawn point up at a time in Drybone (maybe two at times?), so Ash Logs being on cacti only doesn't really help anyone. I'll be doing another Emerald Moss run-through looking for the Lavender that I couldn't find in a week or so.
Do R45 cloth leves exist?
Nope. R50 or R40 only
i cant get the lvl 50 wvr leve from uldah anymore.
What are you guys using to produce HQ itens? Equip and action build.
from equip im trying to get as high as possible on the main stat from the class and action i use perfection, hand of the gods, action that gets more quality using the main stat, 2 30% progress actions, preserve (thinking about changing it to tender touch or a brand), and the rest actions that get higher quality from the next action.
i usually get very high quality (around 600-700 for all NQ materials and 800-1000 for all HQ materials), but sometimes im failing the synth in the end, i try to leave 30-40 durability and 20 to 40% progress left at most, but even like that sometimes i get bad luck and fail, thats why tender touch might be useful.
Tender Touch helps a bit. I just started using Inspiration from GSM and have noticed a nice increase in quality you get from it. (3 turns, 4 if decoration)
I haven't done much in the way of trying for HQ (tho with the new quality system that's essentially that you're doing every synth for max exp) but my method is usually just;
1. success action (ie. bold endeavor) + 30% action
2. preserve/masterpiece/fulfillment/tender touch (no particular order) & careful spam until durability is shot
3. perfection + rapid to finish (or another 30% action if there's instability that might reduce progress of rapid)
I keep at least 2 single-success actions (not including perfection) and 2 30% actions around in case there's failures on activation or success, respectively.
I find inspiration and the increased quality single actions to be very placebo-ish but I haven't really used them enough to judge them with any real confidence.
My personal setup for CRP50:
Multi-turn abilities
• Masterpiece (WVR10 - Increased 'Careful' success)
• Fullfillment (LTW10 - Increased success)
• Preserve (ALC10 - Forced white orb)
• Hand of the Gods (ALC36 - No durability loss)
Single-turn abilities
• Perfection (CRP36 - Guaranteed success)
• Immersion (WVR30 - Chance of increased quality gain)
• Inner Quiet (LTW30 - Chance of increased quality gain)
• Innovation (ALC30 - Lowered success, but greater quality gain)
Misc
• Hasty Hand (I keep this on all the time, but if I really cared about a synth, then I'd probably swap in something else)
• I seriously can't think of the 10th thing I have equipped. I should probably make sure I actually HAVE something equipped when I get on next.
I haven't done a lot of experimenting with my abilities, so this could be far from optimal, but it's worked for me so far. I also haven't done GSM/BSM/ARM past Lv10, so I don't have access to whatever they offer. I highly suggest using the abilities that increase quality gains for your particular tool, if you can. Alchemy + Extrapolation has been wonderful to me. My Saw of the Luminary is constantly bitching at me to level ARM to 30 in order to get the VIT ability.
Notice that they only say that there's a chance of increased quality gains. Innovation guarantees it, albeit at the cost of lowered success rate.
I have a few questions as well...
1) I hadn't thought to use Tender Touch since the big crafting change. Can anyone tell me how much it cuts down on durability loss?
2) Extrapolation is GREAT on my Alchemist, but I hadn't thought to try equipping it on any other job. Has anyone tried that to see if you get decent quality gains even if your class/tool isn't tailored for the stat in question (Extrapolation, Determination, etc.)?
3) WTF does Supplement accomplish?
