How hard is it to farm dodore? I read his pop time info but didn't really understand it. Is it usually up? Or camped like old school FFXI?

On Gungnir it's uncontested any time I've been out there farming hogs. Can do it with 4 or less.

Weather works in 7 hr on/off cycles.

Going off memory but I believe when the weather cycle is on it has a chance to pop only at night?

It's 8h in game cycles. Can change weather/pop at 0:00/8:00/16:00. Weather cannot change to dark weather directly after rain iirc.

That's what I use for my GS, but with DEX on everything.

Don't forget Cobalt Mesail. Craft+7 ctrl+20 on NQ. CRP/BSM/ARM. Not entirely sure what good control does anymore though. If you've got a few crafts lvled up a bit you could synth naked and almost never fail given some of the abilities available.

All crafts make money but the ones that will sustain you the easiest will be leather/armor/gold/weaver as those gears are bought alot to be used to Spiritbind materia making.

Any DoL makes money depending on how much time you put into it. All profit comes from farming your own mats.


Mooglebox.com has a nice layout for all abilities and recipes so you can find what you need from them. You can craft up to 10 ranks above your current lv but you wont succeed much unless you have some guaranteeing abilities. Just find some easy to spam recipes like Hide > leather or Ore > Nuggets > rings.

I can probably map something out if you give more detail of what skills you already possess and what craft you wanna get into.

No map required (just bit of nation hopping to find leves of the right level).

And the money made, aside from the gil rewards, is much more in the materials rewarded (especially when you pump your evaluation rating for more/better stuff).

Crafting leves give less raw gil than regional leves but when the reward is 3x of an item worth more than the gil reward anyway it adds up, you can either just sell the stuff or use it to level further outside of leves, and sell that instead.

If you don't have leves to burn I'd say lvl MIN. Works for both ARM and GSM and is a profit making endeavor in itself.

I never use the Brand abilities because it's just too random for me. Even without focusing on control instabilities are too infrequent and with the curve for quality-HQ rate being so steep not getting an instability (or getting the wrong element) is basically throwing away materials to me.

I though you were talking about using leves to get money, I always do 5 star leves.

I'm talking about crafting leve evaluation, which nets you bonus items which are either more of the same listed reward or different bonus materials related to the craft.

ok so dumb question. I got carpentry to 42 and was looking at shit I could make for skills/money. I was looking up the prices for the various mahogany pattens to see what would be good, and I noticed a fuckton of people add materia to them to sell them at a higher price (smart) what's odd though is most of the materia that's put on them is magic attack potency, but those pattens are craftsman gear. Does mag. att. pot. effect crafting or what other reason could there be that they're doing this? What am I missing?

Magic attack does nothing for crafting, but regular Mahogany Pattens can be worn by mages. it's the special ones like Mahogany Pattens of Intelligence that are crafter only.

If somebody put attack magic potency on the crafter only type then they just derped or are trying to be a dick by fooling people.
