    Calling all Home Theater experts!

    Hi all, I'm hoping you guys can provide me with some assistance. I'm somewhat new to all this setup stuff, so be gentle! I'll be as detailed as possible so there's no confusion. I picked up a Pioneer VSX-1020-K today and need a bit of help hooking this up properly.

    -This is the main problem (I think) TV- Sharp Aquos 32" - This is an older model, and only has ONE HDMI input. I need to hook up the following components to the receiver. The cable box requires either component or HDMI going to the TV. So if I do this, I do not believe I can hook up the rest of my components. I don't mind using component for the TV.

    -Cable TV
    -Playstation 3
    -Xbox 360

    I am looking for the optimum way to hook this up with only one HDMI on the TV.

    How do I go about hooking this up all to the receiver to get Audio/Video on everything? With the one HDMI input on the Aquos, I can't think of any possible way to do it. I can forego the HDMI video on the Cable to just get audio. I have 4 HDMI cables, so I should have enough to cover it all.

    For the PS3/Xbox, what do I do? I take the HDMI cable from the TV input to the receiver output? And then I would take a HDMI cable from PS3/360 to each of the HDMI ins on the receiver? Doing this, I should have AV on the receiver using HDMI for everything but the cable box, correct?

    I should note I have an old component system selector, but since there is no HDMI, I guess it is useless?

    Or is there some way that I am missing to hook up everything including the cable to the receiver via HDMI with only one HDMI on the TV. I am getting the rest of my gear come Friday, so I'd like to know how to properly hook this up before then.

    Depends on the receiver. On mine, it has a few HDMI ports going to a few units, and the projector only has the one going to the TV. Makes everything very simple, but it wasn't cheap...

    You could get an HDMI switch box. Not the perfect solution, but it might work for you

    If your cable box can work via component doesn't require being attached directly to the TV. The entire reason a lot of TV's now-a-days only come with one HDMI port is because the receiver handles everything. Just plug everything into the reciever and run the HDMI out from the receiver to the TV.

    ^this. Your receiver has 6 HDMI ports on it. Just plug everything into you receiver ( xbax,ps3 etc.) and run one out to the TV. The receiver handles all the input switching on its own. And most cable boxes come with HDMI outs now as well so ya. Its really easy.
