Careful with this thing, it can cause durability loss way beyond even the worst Bold attempts... Just blew up a weapon with 40 durability left with a Touch Up...

Is this the only way to trigger a +1/+2/+3? Or can it appear before reaching 100% progress?

For now, the only way I've gotten +1's was from using Touch Up and yes this can crit fail. Had friends get up to 400 quality without a HQ but got one with less than 100 quality so I'll get more data from my crafting.

Higher Quality = better chance of HQ. Not guaranteed. I also suspect that higher Durability increases these odds as well.

Touch up also appears to suck more and more Durability with each successive use.

I just pumped out a pair of Smithy's Gloves +1 (and you can't macro +1 gear apparently, fuck you game)

I completed the craft and had like 70ish durability left and low quality between 30-40. It said in the box that they were +1 and I had the option to touch up for finish.

I pressed touch up with that much durability left, took a hit of 26 then finished.

But I did trigger the +1 without using touch up.

Leave out the +1 and it should macro in the highest quality version of that item.

i.e. /equip hands "Smithy's Gloves" should equip the +1s... I think. If the +1s are the only Smithy's Gloves in your inventory, I know it will work for sure, but I think it prioritizes HQs if there's multiple qualities of the same item in your inventory. I could be totally wrong about that and it might require you to ditch all the NQs for your macro to grab the +1.

Quality determines HQ at a percentage, higher the better.. who knows the exact correlations yet. When you finish your synth, your item is rolled against the quality percentage. Touchup is merely a reroll, it doesnt guarantee anything.. just gives you another chance at the dice. And yes I've gotten a +2 before, and my first HQ was without using touchup at all.

Agreed... Probably the closest answer your going to get is the "Reroll" with Touchup... I've also gotten equipment with 2 Starts but not quite +1 in Beta. (Haven't noticed it here yet) High is basically random until you get to +10 levels of the item your making. Once your much higher than the item your making you can bold most the way thru and get 200q 40d and use touch up till it's +1 or greater.
