    What do you have to do? If it's just going to Quarry Mill, which I had to do for the Leatherworkers quest, enter from the south. Start at Camp Tranquil and head east as far as you can, then North to Quarrymill.

    Side note - raptors aggro sight, you can often run behind them.

    Son of a bitch...thanks a lot.. *facepalm* I thought the only way into the Mill was from the North through Hogs, raptors, efts and buzzards because the map is hard as hell to read in Grid. You never know if thats a path under a ledge or just a wall.

    lol yea. I went through tranquil just because I was coming through Ul'dah and it seemed faster. On the way out I tried to go up around Silent Arbor and got face raped.

    Rank 20 Culinarian Quest "Showdown"

    How am I supposed to complete the pate for Pulmia? I read someone else went to the "Requested Items" menu item to get the materials for her opponent Prudentia. Did I just select a bugged option? That doesn't work for me.

    You have to first collect the items yourself since they are generally not supplied for class-quests.

    Synthesize > Requested Items > Quests > "Showdown" > manually put your ingredients into the empty slots as it's not automatic a la local leves... It's really not intuitive at all.

    I'm pretty sure you can purchase all of the ingredients inside Limsa Lominsa... might cost you a total of like 5k though.

    Oh wow, that's completely the opposite of what I expected (especially after experiencing local leves). Thank you for explaining.

    It's very awkward and it had me stumped for a while myself until I figured out that I could pick something other than a local leve when I hit Requested Items. I think the only purpose of that step is to place in "special" items that you don't simply farm up or purchase yourself. For example, the Alchemy quest has you go retrieve one of your two ingredients from an NPC. You have to supply the other ingredient yourself, but the one you retrieved from the NPC is one of those non-existent quest items and automatically gets placed in one of the slots while synthesizing that quest's requested item.

    Rank 20 Culinarian (Cooking) Quest "Showdown" - the one where you help one of the chefs win the friendly showdown

    Spoiler: show

    UGH. Horrible quest.

    A few dialogs and you have a decision to make. You can either choose to help Pulmia or Prudentia. They will ask you to make something. Unfortunately, they do not provide the materials. Apparently you can purchase them right in LL from a few vendors.

    Here's the worst part. You cannot simply put the items into the materials slots. You also cannot simply go to "Requested Items" > Quest > Showdown. You have to do both in this order:

    1) "Requested Items" > Quest > Showdown; this empties your materials slots
    2) Load all the materials as described in the quest log from your own inventory, one item at a time (the recipe requires no shards or crystals)
    3) Synth

    Once you're done, you go outside to find the person who you didn't help and comfort them. This ends the quest.

    More venting
    <Expletive> <Expletive> !@#%!$ <Expletive> Seriously horrible how they chose to do this and I only figured it out as quickly as I did thanks to mioko's advice. Square, I really want you to do well and win here. But you're really shooting yourselves in the foot over and over and genuinely pissing off even your most stubbornly loyal subscribers. UGH.

    Polishing the Mast, Rank 36 Fisher Quest - the one where everyone is up in arms about Wawalago's antics
    Start at N'nmulika at the Fisherman's guild
    Reward: 36000 gil, 3600 guild marks, unlocks Master of Fish

    Spoiler: show

    Cutscene watching Wawalago

    Speak with N'nmulika; evidently we need hammerhead shards;

    Hammerhead Shark +1 did not work (rabble); normal hammerhead got me 1000 gil (only needed one);

    Go to Sisipu and M; various dialog; use echo Sisipu twice, once on M to see stuff;

    Return to N'nmulika to finish the quest
    Reward: 36000 gil, 3600 Guild marks, unlocks Master of Fish

    I forgot to mention you may be able to save yourself some trouble by acquiring a normal quality Hammerhead Shark before heading to LL. Would save you trouble of going back out just for the quest. I fished mine off the coast at Cedarwood.

    I honestly have no idea how you can stand to grind away at fishing as much as you apparently do...

    Anyways, I'm on the Rank-30 quest... and traveled out to Ul'dah for my sparkly panties, but where exactly in Ul'dah am I supposed to go? I'm beginning to worry that I dipped out of Limsa Lominsa without talking to a key NPC first.

    EDIT: Nevermind! This is the first time I've actually had to utilize a quest map. Hurp, derp, etc.

    I have found the combination of ffxiv fishing and a movie/tv makes for acceptable entertainment. Glad to hear you figured the quest out.
