Lemme break it down for you quickly. If you report yourself, even if you weren't abusing the glitch, you put yourself under unnecessary scrutiny. But hey, go ahead and admit to "abusing" the glitch even though you weren't. That'll help.
Reporting is for people who actually abused it, not paranoid idiots who think they might get banned for curing someone.
I think I've almost lost what little faith I had left in SE if they keep this no skill gains from healing/buffing.
Interesting. I understand your point. Again, however, you don't seem to understand mine. While it may not be necessary, we have seen SE ban people in the past for completely odd reasons. A lot of them to do with the salvage bans. You honestly are telling me you don't understand why a person would rather take that risk of being scrutinized than roll the dice and get terminated? If you recall many who thought bans would come of the duping glitch were deemed, as you said, "paranoid idiots".
I won't be, as I am hoping there is more of a filter to these bans than in the past. But again, you really have to consider all schools of thought rather than sticking to your own and deeming everyone else as "idiots".
Have ppl tested the changes yet?
This isn't about a handful of large skillups occurring in one leve. This is about groups of DoM players performing certain actions that resulted in thousands/tens of thousands of skill points in a short amount of time. Some of these people got Ranks into the 30s. I wouldn't go reporting yourself based on what you described here.
Yeah, it'd be kinda helpful if they told us what kind of numbers we're talking about here. I've been duoing with a Pugilist friend, and we've been tackling 2-3 star leves, during which I spend most of the fight keeping us both alive. Fortunately, I am able to get relatively decent skillpoints through healing and buffing during combat. I even managed to get 600 for one party of mobs. How am I to know if this is fraudulent or not, because I don't seem to be leveling any faster than he is.
I do hope they don't change the way the system is working, however. It is already hard enough to gain skill as a healer because most of the skillpoint acquisition seems to revolve around damage. Fix the exploit by all means (or implement the shared sp point pool as was suggested countless times on the EU beta forums) but nerfing healing skillpoint on an already random gain system will destroy what little enjoyment I have been able to find so far in this game.
Currently trioing mobs outside of leves and cures still give skillups but slightly worse than before.
I hear ppl like RNG drops, so lets makes the way ppl lv based around RNG
This case and duping aren't the same thing. You NEED to use cure, if you're in a leve and people are getting hit, it's natural to cure them. It's also natural to have favour on, and as such, natural to get skill ups.
Even with the glitch, if your party isn't abusing it, the most you'd get out of a bunch of leves is a rank. If you were abusing it, SE would see a spike in your ranks that far exceeds the time required to attain them. I understand your point fine, but I don't agree with it at all. You may want to admit to doing something "wrong" when you actually weren't, but all you're doing it making them take a good, hard look at your account and seeing if you were one of the people abusing the glitch. If you weren't you have little to fear, but perhaps that little bit of fear is enough.
I didn't get a single skillup through healing/buffing under the last 2 leves I had left to share with a friend. Its too small of a sample size to conclude, but my theory is that they did away with it, or nerfed it by at least 75% to the point where the chance of skillups are now rare.
Wow still confusion over this? Ok here is an attempt to create a cheater's checklist on whether or not they need to report themselves. To clarify the exploit is as follows:
There is currently a bug that grants the possibility of a skill up for every party member that is affected by a heal or buff during a leve/behest while the caster is under the effect of guardian favor.
Basically, people would gather up very large parties, initiate a leve with favor, then they would engage a mob (without killing it) and spam Cure, Sacrifice, and buffs. If you had a party of 15 members then the caster would get 15 chances to skill up with a single heal/buff (amusing all members are in range). The skill points gained bypassed surplus so some people were able to get very close to the current rank cap (30).
So, if you gathered a large party and spammed cures/buffs until you are out of mp, then you are exploiting the bug. People who simply played the role of a healer in a regular party have nothing to worry about.
1) Are you rank 20-30 and a conjurer or thaumaturge? (if yes, go to question 2)
2) Did you join a large group, start a guildleve, and find a mob to attack you, but not use offensive skills to kill it for an extended period of time? (if yes, go to question 3)
3) Did you spam buffs and heals to other members of the party while monsters beat on you? (if yes go to question 4)
4) Did you can very high skillup experience and think hey, this is too easy... (if yes go to question 5)
5) Did you knowingly repeat this grouping process several times and seek out groups of healers to do this?
If you answered yes to 1-5, you should contact a GM asap before you get hit with a banstick.
If you answered yes to 1-4, you should contact a GM as a measure of good faith.
If you answered yes to 1-3, you should contact a GM, cause you don't want to be the dolphin caught in the fish net.
If you answered yes to 1-2, your call, but if your rank 30 conjurer, you didn't read the rest of the list and are suspect!
If you answered yes to only 1, hope you solo'd your way there, cause you still look guilty.
I am pretty confident nothing will happen.
They can't punish people for something like this as they really did nothing wrong. To me it would be like banning a SMN in FFXI for standing outside town and spamming summons over and over. If it's really that big of an issue they should be directing there anger at the QA team.
I wasn't even aware that Conjurer's even got skillups for buffing and healing, I duo with a Conjurer and all she does is bitch when she has to cure me because she says she doesn't get skill-ups.
Was there a special way to get them? I assume you have to be in combat but I assume she would have seen one by now.
I mean, maybe I'm not getting this but what if someone wants to play "White Mage" style and/or make their parties that way. Won't get skills now because we're only curing? If they don't want us to spam cures then just remove the spell altogether (or maybe change the timer). Here we go again with the nerfs and Square's dictatorship.
SE can't code worth shit so they completely take it out? Skill ups are so fucked in this game. Don't nerf an exploit, fix it so ppl don't need to use an exploit. Endless amount of ppl have offered better alternatives then SE's RNG based system. And if I can't get skill ups from healing / buffing while doing leve's / grinding then wtf.
As it stands now, it's easier to level my leathercraft than to level my lancer. The only limit is my shards, since finding them at 100g each can be difficult some times. But, to offset that, I'm sitting with over 1mil gil on my character right now, and I know i"ve blown through at least 2.5mil since I started.
Fix. SP. Gain.
Offtopic but damn how are you making that much?
Only way I have seen making gil possible right now is through guildleves, I have yet to sell anything in bazaar and my bazaar is full of what I think to be fairly prices product. (10k for a Hunter Hat for example).
lol. my crafting ls is dying for shards. I think we're all 17+ with at least one craft, most of us have another 14+ and a DoW/DoM that's 12+. I just buy all the shards I see for 100g each. I'm dropping my prices because I'm already making anywhere near 10-20x the cost of each synth(probaly due to farming my own mats), and with the cost of tnl I'd just make more money selling more stuff, since I need to make it anyway.
