I haven't found any either. I'd assume Coerthas as that's the only place I haven't mined since the patch.
I know Gold Sand is in Grade 4 Gridinia.
I've gotten gold sand from leves in Nophica but yeah leve loot is usually different.
It seems mythril is harder to get since the change. I used to break tonnes of it in leves before patch.
There's no mining points in.....mines....are there? I haven't actively looked but i've not seen any just running through for leves and stuff.
I think he means Nanawa and Copperbell Mines. It is weird, but maybe SE is saving them for higher grades. But then what is SE going to put in all these new areas that are yet to be released? SE has made the areas in this game way too big.
Oh, by the way, Goodr... The message "The fish are biting on your _____s" means that whatever fish you pull up after that message favors that bait/lure.
It was something in the last patch that kinda' got buried which also explains a lot of my trouble catching normally easy crap since. They said they "adjusted" the relationship between fish and tackle. I guess it's going to be a lot more like FFXI fishing although using the "wrong" bait doesn't completely exclude fish that don't like them, just makes them rare as shit. Kinda' sucks for inventory issues as I was getting used to just carrying a couple stacks of whatever bait and 99 of the same lure.
Now every fish is going to have variables like...
Fish 1
Regions:
Zones:
Water Type:
Grades:
Depth:
Favorite Tackle:
Difficulty:
Rarity:
Nice find!
Oh boy. I have mixed feelings about that - probably for the same reasons (inventory; I carry 1 stack of 99 chocobo flies and 1 stack of 99 floating minnows). But it's nice to be able to focus in on a particular fish I guess. Hmm
Yeah, and I still don't know what that "something big hits your line!" message means. I'm suspecting it's just a new, highest 'level' of a bite on your line and has nothing to do with rarity/jig location/size. Nothing Bites > Nibble > Bite > Something Big in terms of likely hood that you'll hook it on your initial jig. Maybe. I'll test it through some excessive Waits sometime if I get bored enough.
I ask this question with all due respect, because it's everyone's contributions that have made this a worthwhile thread...
Should we maybe break out the fishing discussion into a new thread? I think we've got enough unique discussion and it could keep it easier for others to find information relevant to what they are looking for.
I've also considered the same thing Jamison. I'm happy to do that. Thoughts Mioko?
I was going to do that a long time ago (I have no idea why the Fisher class thread was locked upon launch) but I got too lazy as I intended to start it with a basic guide. Fishing definitely has enough unique aspects to it to deserve a different discussion from the other two Disciples of the Land. I don't know about Botany vs Mining though since they are identical in function as far as I can see. I feel awkward making fishing posts in here but it was the closest thing to a generic gathering thread.
I want to know what grade you can fish blue and red coral and how rare it is when using the right bait for it. I need thousands of the stuff.
I've seen buttloads of Blue at Skull Valley with Red being somewhat rare. Cederwood, however has Red pretty common. I'm not entirely sure, but I think inanimate catches (kelp, marimo, coral, etc.) don't have any tackle preference so you'd have to just focus on where it is on the depth as well as trying to use bait/lures that none of the rest of the fish prefer (which still has a lot of testing involved to verify).
Good info.
It sucks I had to level miner for GLD skill and now I have to level fishing too lol. I've no interest in playing fishing class. But coral is the only reasonable way to get to 50.
Cedarwood node fishing gives both red and blue coral, and there are two spearfishing nodes in the immediate area to reset the triangle, and start again.
Info,
Rank 22 fishing
Bamboo Fishingrod
Lugworm bait
Must use fishing node, which will result in a limited number of catches, then you will need to reset the node.
Red/Blue coral sweat spot, was towards the bottom. iirc it was down 3 from default.
Swing meter was always far right.
Caught two stacks in a very short period of time.
GL
Good info... but grade 4 at R22? Sounds a bit early lol.
I'll have to level fishing once I burn through this obsidian and chakram mats.
13 in an hour seems low when I need about 4000 of them to reach rank 50...
Might be faster to farm them from mobs.
Which brings me to another point. Mining seems broke. I know a lot of people who SP on doblyns and they're getting way more zinc, silver and obsidian per hour than I have ever gotten mining. It's not worth mining it when you can farm it faster off mobs. Maybe it's the mobs that are broke rather than mining.
