I'm a little confused now. So we've gone from measuring product interest with a download to being expected to pay Capcom to test their game for them? Doesn't that seem a little..backwards?

I doubt it will be a part of the actual game, prolly a side story
If its something modest like 3$ for a demo I could stomach that. Hell, I'd WANT to spend that (if I was stupid and bought a 3DS before any games where out for it). I'd bet they're doing this to judge reactions to how the game plays, and the new character. Its been 10+ years since they've made one of these after all.
The trailer has me really hopeful; it looks like the gameplay is mostly unchanged and the new character plays different enough from Megaman to be interesting but not gimmicky like what Zero turned into.
As long as (and I'm not holding my breath here) they can get the Bonne's VA's back the game is already bought in my book. If not, I'll wait to see if they screw that up since the more charming parts of MML1 and 2 where Tronne and the ServeBots.
It's believed that Tara Strong voiced Tron Bonne in MVC3 since the original va's last job was like in 2006. If the original doesn't come back, Tara Strong's pretty good in her own way.
Not gonna lie, I'm gonna laugh if they wrangle out money from people for this "demo" and then cancel the project. God I hate the era of downloadable games sometimes.
Given the footage shown they've invested to much for the game to be completely shelved.
It would easily be one of the top trollings of the century if they did though.
I don't even give a damn about this game and will probably never play it, but I hope it doesn't get canned. It's the first 3DS game I've seen where I've thought "Damn, this system is actually capable of good graphics after all". I'm sure there's others I haven't paid attention to that look okay too, but the art style in this carries it so well. I'm looking forward to seeing it in motion.
I was laughing my ass off when SE released dissidia demo promising Aeris unlockable on the main game if you'd buy it, but this one takes it a step further.
Buy the demo, and you just might see the retail version!
Between this being on 3ds, Megaman not being the main character, and the whole demo or canned, I think I'll just wait for the NGP MHP3G or something.
Oh, i was thinking about the end of MML1.. its been so long
Is that the official stroy for MML3?
It makes sense that the demo wouldn't have Megaman, the game isn't finished so the rocket in the game is still unfinished, but awhole game without Megaman sounds like crap.
MML2 ended with Megaman on the moon and Sera being told that ruins and the ancients are waking up again, the reason for the ruins existing seems a better plotline to take then rescue Megamen.
They haven't really said 100% what the story is, other than it's picking up where MML2 left off. So far most everything they've talked about gameplay wise has been in regards to Barrett, and they haven't really dropped any info about actually playing Volnutt aside from a cryptic comment about "if he's ever rescued from the moon" line. At a glance I'd say it's safe to say that Capcom really has no fucking clue what they're doing with the game so far, and even if the prototype version goes down well, this shit is probably still a ways out.
They've made it abundantly clear that aside from a couple really minor things, they still have literally nothing written in stone about the game yet. Also, according to a devroom post from today, Tron and the other Bonne family members appear to be getting new designs.
