Any links where you get your conclusions from, Mainly though, the one where you think Megaman won't be playable, stuff like that.

More specific, the one where they say the "Vague crap" about playing megaman "only if he's rescued". I kinda wanna see that, And wonder why i've never seen it in the Devroom Discussions. Is it really old?

A number of things have been newly revealed in this trailer. Were you surprised?! And yet, this is (part of) the Mega Man Legends 3 we devs have been working hard to create all along!

It seems to me, this trailer probably left one thing on a lot of you Devroomers’ minds—Barrett. “Who is this new hero-lookin’ guy?!” I hear you wondering. Of course, we’ll also be able to show you Mega Man back in full force somewhere down the road, assuming he ever makes it safely back to Earth.

I suppose I should explain how Barrett came to be, though. When we started this project, we knew that it wouldn’t be able to sustain itself if all it did was replicate the previous games in the series. Things wouldn’t be that simple. We decided to create a new character to appear in a trial version of the game that would serve as a way to show off and explore the Legends series’ untapped potential at company conferences.

We wanted to see how we could create a more liberating, adventurous experience with the 3D open world concept, and the ideas quickly piled up. A buster gun for long-range combat, martial arts moves for close combat, and new special weapons! Wall-climbing and dashing! The ability to whip around through town on flying motorcycles!

Barrett’s character began to fill in as well. Brotherly in some ways, he is dutiful and passionate, sometimes to a fault. At times, he may even go a little berserk. A bit rough around the edges, Barrett is a hero of a slightly different flavor than the straight-laced and soft-spoken Mega Man.

We also wanted to be sure and show off Barrett’s battle with the Bonne Mecha in this trailer! After all, that Mecha is a Devroom original creation! (A detailed run-down of the Bonne Mecha is coming from one of our chief planners, so stay tuned for that)

But I don’t want to just talk about the new stuff. We all realize how important it is for this project to also live up to the expectations of all those who’ve been long awaiting a sequel. And to be sure, this prototype game will pick up where Legends 2 left off, allowing players to reunite with Roll, Data, and other familiar faces.

We took this prototype game, full of potential, and showed it off at the greenlight meeting. As hoped, Barrett’s reception was top-notch. What a response! And yet. . . it’s really difficult to determine just how well-received a sequel to a 10-year-old series will be.

Not even a week old yo. The game was pitched with Barrett as the playable character at the green-lighting meeting, so it's safe to say he'll be the main playable character. You don't pitch a game to the studio with a temporary or demo character in place. It's probably safe to say that Volnutt will come into the picture at some point, but right now it's looking more like they're focusing on Barrett as the playable character (although some things in his comment are admittedly contradictory to that idea).

Like I said in the last post though, I'm pretty sure they still have no idea what the fuck they're doing with the game.

Anyways... sounds like the game will be about Barrett. But it sounds like part of the story will take place after MM is rescued (it wont just end w/him being rescued) so, while not a playable character, he will have some appearances.

What would be cooler is if they ran w/2 different - interconnected - stories. Since MM has stuff to do on Elysium and Barret has stuff where he is. Have Barrett as the main character, but run w/ 2 stories where MM is also playable.. but when the stories interconnect then just make Barret the playable character

There is nothing wrong with a different main character for the first part of the story. I mean, do we really care about Megaman? It's all about Tron.

The Interview sounds like Barret is going to be a new face we play as for a bit, but the parts where "living up to expectations" etc makes it sound like they know we want to play as Megaman. My guess (Hope?) Is that Barret will be a playable "Prologue" character to about the point where Megaman is rescued, Then the game continues under Megaman as the main character and Barret is a Side-Char. (Think of it like the one "Kingdom Hearts" game, where you play as Roxus(? right?) for the first part of the game, Then resume as the main character)

Or it could be, Before Each mission, You choose who to go with, MM or Barret, so players can chose who they want to play as. (I can't recall the name of a game who did this, But i know there are a few).

Either way, I don't think they'll make an entire MML3 game with a different main Character. If they did that it wouldn't be "Megaman Legends 3" it would be "The Misadventures of Tron Bonne". I can't think of a game named after a Character where said Character wasn't a playable option If he was an Option in the Other games.

Or it could be very well setting up a "Co-Op" Type adventure.

I don't know I Don't wanna remain too Optimistic, but at the same time, I have high hopes for this game. If Barret was the only playable character i would be a little upset, But I'd still buy the game.

/lesigh. That Interview is too contradicting to get anything from for me oh well, Wish i could have a release date on this game already.

Nothing wrong with it-- it feels like a Metal Gear Solid 2 premise-ish.

I didn't have any issue with MGS2, but I don't think the situation are that similar since
-Snake is top tier, most didn't like raiden
-you never got snake back for the final stretch of the game
-they were trolled by kojima and didnt expect that.

That makes no sense to me. The "prototype" version has to be nearly complete or complete. Should just finish that up and milk it because you know it will sell well. And then make a decision from there

Finish the prototype, release it on PSN and Xbox live, gauge the playerbase's reaction/interest, go from there.

These companies need to realize that PSN/Xbox live is a GREAT way to put cheaper games out there for sale and to get a sense of feedback as to how big interest is for a game. I know I'd pay 7 or so bucks to get my hands on what I've already seen from this game.

I'd say that this surprises me, but it doesn't. I've honestly had 0 faith that this game would actually come out since Inafune left Capcom.

Capcom is pretty much dead to me at this point. No NA localization of Miles Edgeworth 2, and now the demo of MML3 may not even happen.

Stop saying Imafune, it's Inafune. But yes, it's not hard to see why he jumped ship as fast as he could.

    http://www.capcom-unity.com/devroom/...ge_from_capcom

We'd like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.

From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process. Part of this process includes an assessment of whether the title will go into full production, and is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company.

Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely.

We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.

We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.

If you have any questions, please see the FAQ below.

    ====================

Q: Are there plans to restart the Mega Man Legends 3 Project in the future?

    A: Currently there are none.

Q: I want to maintain contact with the people I met through the Devroom.

A: The Dev Room will remain open in a limited capacity, so you can PM those people now and in the future.

Q: Is there a chance the ideas recruited in the Devroom will be used in future games?

A: No, I am afraid not.

Q: Will it be okay to upload the ideas we contributed to the Devroom elsewhere?

A: Yes, you may reuse your ideas elsewhere, including those ideas that were selected as winners in Devroom events.

Q: Will the people whose ideas were supposed to go in the game receive something else instead?

A:Yes, those whose ideas were to be implemented in the game will receive a commemorative gift, which will be shipped at a later date.

Q.Can you please give me more information on why the MML3 project was cancelled so close to the launch of the Prototype?

    A. The project was cancelled for the reasons outlined in the statement.

Q.Will the Prototype Version still be distributed via the Nintendo eShop?

    A.No it will not.

Q.Is the cancellation of MML3 related to the departure of Inafune-san?

    A. The cancellation of the MML3 project is in no way related to Inafune-san leaving the company.

    Q. This is the second Mega Man game cancelled this year, what does this mean for the future of the Mega Man Franchise?

    A. Mega Man is still an important franchise within Capcom’s portfolio and we will continue to pursue opportunities to create new titles in the series.

    Q. The Dev Room was a place where fans were supposed to be deeply involved in the creation of this product, why were they not involved in the decision to cancel this product?

    A. We thank all those who were involved in the Developer Room, but the decision to continue or cancel the MML3 ultimately had to be made by Capcom.

    Q. What will happen to the ideas and input participants have given to the Dev Room?

    A. Content will remain viewable on the Devroom, but will not be utilized for any future projects.

    Q. Will there be any future projects that involve fan participation in this manner? Or was this a one time experiment?

    A. We will certainly continue to welcome suggestions and comments from Capcom’s community on current and future titles although right now there are no projects with plans to replicate the same level of interaction.
