Ottawa to appeal prostitution ruling

OTTAWA—The federal government will appeal an Ontario court ruling that struck down Canada’s prostitution laws.

Justice Minister Rob Nicholson made the announcement today in the House of Commons.

An Ontario Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday that certain prostitution-related laws are unconstitutional.

Prostitution is not illegal in Canada, but the court struck down three provisions that criminalized most aspects of prostitution.

Justice Susan Himel said laws against keeping a common bawdy house, communicating for the purposes of prostitution, and living on the avails “are not in accord with the principles of fundamental justice.”

The judgment is subject to a 30-day stay during which the law remains in place — and the federal government can seek an extension of the stay period.

The federal government should accept the ruling and the prospect of a "brand new era," said New Democrat MPP Peter Kormos, a lawyer and his party's justice critic.

To fight the ruling is hypocritical given the way other, thinly veiled sex trade business is carried out, Kormos added.

"Municipalities across Ontario licence and tax so-called massage parlours, what you call rub-and-tug joints, which are, in fact, houses of prostitution. Everybody knows it. The cities that are licensing them and taxing them know it, so let's stop the hypocrisy."

Well i've been with the same girl for over 6 years now so I don't have any hooker story's. Lets go with the cheapest date that includes dinner and a movie.

Movie: Avg is what 10 bucks? maybe 5 if you go at noon lol.... popcorn/candy/drinks jacks that up another 15 dollars or so IF you don't get anything for yourself. So about 25 USD

So by far the cheapest would be around 27 dollars and that is if you hit tacobell/fastfood and not a 15 dollar a plate restaurant like most would expect.

This would make it cheaper if you were 100% getting some ass for it, but my record for 1st date nookie is about 40% personally. I'm sure people on here have done a lot better/worst.

Another reason the speard of STD's might go down. With hookers being tested every month you have little chance of getting one, double the fact that they have to use condoms. If your in the club and drunk you are more likely to say fuck it and dip. Guys wouldn't have to worry about going to the club to get some, paying 5+ dollars a drink, and cover.
