iPad is way better, why even make something like this that will fail against the competition.

ipad is way better because its the only next-gen tablet available (fuck the streak)

Blackpad looks to be the leading contender for tablets.

It's like neither of you have ever seen either device, the Playbook is the exact functional equivalent of an ipad in both hardware and implementation, the only thing the ipad arguably has going for it is the app store.

There comes the first "iPad killer". Seriously, PlayBook? That's a terrible name to pick when you consider the target market of RIM in general. iPad's better.

They recently changed the name, in concept it was the "BlackPad" then in came all the racist comments. Personally I dont see why anybody would get a blackberry tablet, I'd get the Streak or the GalaxyS tablet over the PlayBook.

Everybody is familiar with android or iOS platforms, why learn a new one, a shitty one at that. Sure back in the 90's when Blackberry's were king of the smart phones I would get one, but now they've fallen on the backburner. Unless BB6 SW shows something really promising soon, they're gonna end up just like Palm oneday IMO.

Reason for getting GalaxyS series over playbook, same size screen, but using android.
Reason for getting Streak over playbook, actually smaller screen @ 5 inches, it'd be even easier to stick in my pocket but blah @ android 1.6.

I really think Apple will always have the market cornered on tablets, at least for the next couple of years.

only reason i don't consider the galaxy is because i don't know the OS, and arguablly i won't know the new OS on this BBpad but i'm willing to learn because i'm a business professional that uses blackberry phones and it only makes sense for me to use a tablet that works seamlessly with my phone.

hopefully the implementation is amazing because i can definetly see how it can get burned.

And yes i realize the RIM has been failing lately in the smartphone market with the underwhelming torch release/specs in comparison to everything else in the market, but i have high hopes for the pad

It's win if it comes out RIGHT NOW.

Look at the release date... well into next year, which by then, Apple would have iPad2 out.

So yea, it sucks just coz it's not available now, and by the time it will be available, it will suck compared to iPad2 w

Its running blackberry OS. The most underdeveloped OS out of all the market and its a royal pain in the ass to develop for. Its going to crash and burn, and I'll laugh from the sidelines. Blackberry needs to get up to the plate or just die.

its not BB OS they bought a company to develop the new OS for the pad, it's built from the ground up.

Its still going to be complete shit. And it probably won't work seamlessly with your phone if its not the same OS or derivative of it. Only thing that saves RIM's skin is their "secure" mail service. Its RIM, I've completely lost faith in them to deliver a product that doesn't suck terribly.

    Yes.

The ipad and blackpad are the same in hardware and implementation.

    I think I misread your last post haha, when you said blackpad I thought you were talking about some 3rd device and were throwing dirt on the RIM one ._.;

Companies need to have a market-ready product when they do announcements like this. Waiting this long for an actual product will lose any buzz that you build up with the announcement. Plus they look stupid if they decide to never release the product later on. (e.g. HP's Slate)
