Readers Note: No this is not Beyond Good & Evil 2, so bite me if I broke your hopes of there being an update about it.

Looks like Ubisoft is jumping aboard the 'remastered' bandwagon that's been picking up in speed lately, and they're giving the game a facelift in the visual/audio department according to IGN, set for release on XBLA/PSN hopefully in 2011.

Digital distribution is probably the best decision they made for it, easy to access for all, and lower price-point. Main thing I'm curious about is how they'll fit it within the 2gb size limitation Microsoft has on XBLA titles currently to my knowledge. The original BG&E was around 1.6gb on my PC copy, and increasing the resolution on everything and redoing character models/audio would surely bump that up a fair bit.

Regardless, nice to see Ubisoft is giving some sign of attention to the series, so here's to hoping of some BG&E2 info (other than "the small team is working on it") in the upcoming months since they've said jack fucking shit about it the past year.

I'm personally not sure if I'll bother with the HD facelift since the game looked good enough when I played it at 1920x1200 on my PC about three years back, but it will open the doors to those who haven't played it yet nor can stand PS2-era visuals in this day and age. Figured you guys would be interested in knowing. Will post pics.........whenever some get posted. Perhaps they'll add some additional minigames or areas to explore to give some of us incentive to revisit the game, again. BG&E wasn't exactly a long game by any standards if you just wanted to beat the story.

Imagine it will fall under the category of the DL-able xbox games like fable, which I assume have bigger file sizes

I would hope it'd be the case, but the dev's of the Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD upgrade were having problems with the size limitation, so I just assumed as things stand that BG&E would fall under the same problem unless Microsoft changes their policy.

I have played BG&E at least 3 or 4 times now and I have every intention of buying this when it comes out. Those of you who STILL haven't played this and don't play it in some form (HD or the original) deserve to die a fiery death

Beginning in February, Microsoft will be holding a promotion called "Xbox Live Arcade House Party". There'll be five games released over a five week period, including Torchlight and the HD version of Beyond Good & Evil.

Joining those headline acts will be Hard Corps Rising, Bejeweled Blitz and Full House Poker. Hard Corps will be the first game released on February 16, while the others will follow one game per week after that.

If you've never played Beyond Good & Evil or Torchlight - and given the former's age and the latter's previous lack of console appearance many of you haven't - this is a promo to keep an eye on.

I was one of the many that never played BG&E so I'm excited.

thread reminded me i bought the game years ago and never actually got around to playing it. now i can't decide if i should just play the original now or wait a bit and shell out for the HD version.
