You all better buy this game next week, or else! 800 points/10 dollars is a great deal.Things have been worryingly quiet on the Beyond Good & Evil 2 front since it was first revealed back in 2008. Is the sequel to Ubisoft's beloved but under-performing 2003 adventure classic still alive? Or has the publisher got cold feet and canned it?
"Keep the faith," was all Wang Xu, producer of the impending Beyond Good & Evil HD, had to say on the issue during an email chat with Eurogamer.
When asked whether the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network re-release was being used as a test balloon to gauge consumer interest in the franchise, Xu was similarly coy.
"Yes it is true; please buy Beyond Good & Evil HD if you want more BG&E games" he wrote, before adding, "For real... I don't know."
Following a brief teaser trailer unveiled in May 2008, Ubisoft has released no further formal information about the proposed sequel.
Last Summer, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot insisted that the game was still in the oven and urged fans to have patience.
"What is very import with this next product is that it will be perfect. [Michel Ancel's] intention is to come [out] with something really exciting," he explained.
Beyond Good & Evil HD, meanwhile, launches on Xbox Live Arcade on 2nd March, with a PlayStation Network release to follow later in the year. Look out for more from Xu on that later this week.
aaaand it's up on xbox live!

go forth and play!
Atreides, be honest with me. I never played this before, or have looked up anything on it. I have a limited amount of income being on unemployment. Is this worth my hard earned money!?
there should be a demo on xbl...
For me it's pretty much a perfect example of what an action/adventure game should be. Combat and exploration (with plenty of puzzles and optional dungeons) is a lot like zelda, although focused more on solving things with the help of an AI companion and their special individual skills. There's also a fair amount of stealth and photography, and with a lot of minigames (things like hovercraft races) and sidequests and collectibles there's a nice variety of content that really makes you feel invested in what's going on.
I think 10 bucks for BG&E is a great deal, it's easily a 10-12 hour game. It's probably my favorite game of all time so I might be biased though...
BG&E HD coming to PSN in May, people who buy it in the first 2 weeks will get some sort of PSN card thingy:

Good news PlayStation fans! Beyond Good & Evil HD is coming to the PlayStation Network in May 2011. Fans of the 2003 cult classic will be able to relive the adventures of Jade as she uncovers a planet-wide alien conspiracy that is taking over Hillys. At its time, Beyond Good & Evil was considered one of the top adventure games on the PlayStation 2, and soon you’ll be able to play it in HD on your PS3.
With the HD release of the game, you can expect to see the same type of care Michel Ancel and his team has when they designed the original game. Dive deep into the beautiful world of Hillys as Jade encounters different species of animals and enemies. Along with the visuals, we have also updated the audio allowing you to experience the 2004 AIAS nominee for Oustanding Achievement in Original Music Composition and Oustanding Achievement in Sound Design. All this combines into the best version of Beyond Good & Evil yet.

Was waiting for PSN version to come out; never played it before, but I'm excited to get my hands on it.
Oh neat. I'mma so buy this when it comes out. I can't hate a main character that has so much green on her!
Bit curious if the PSN release will have a full repertoire of trophies + platinum, as the 360 release got the usual gimped set worth 200GS, which isn't fair for a game of this size.
I might just be arsed to pick it up for $10 if it has a plat, and awards one for 100%'ing the game as I never bothered collecting everything before. I don't think there was a reward for it either no? What kinda bothered me about the game was the one cave you can access with the ship that essentially shits out pearls, making the ending farm bit a lot shorter than it needed to be.
afaik there's no way to get extra pearls unless there's a glitch, there's one that gives like 10+ pearls but that's not until you get access to the spaceship. Some of the later dungeons (the alpha sections areas in the pedestrian section, and from the mission dudes after major plot points) give quite a few as well, but those aren't until you actually need to collect 50 pearls for the flight stabilizer and a spaceflight enginge. Regardless, even if you collect every pearl there's only like 8 left over if you're buying every hovercraft/ship upgrade.
also passing this game over because it doesn't have a platinum is fucking retarded
I already own it on PC which does the game 'HD' already. Trophies are my main incentive to own the game again since this port adds nothing new aside from some touched-up textures.

finally
everyone needs to buy this!
If I had access to psn I'd buy it![]()
Bumping this instead of the more recent BG&E2 thread to not give false hope.
