Why did nobody ask about the menu lag during crafting? QQ

At least the color code was kind of cleared up but I assumed this before although before the "fix", I just spammed rapid.

It depends on what you want out of it. If you want HQ mats for easier future synths, use one. If you want more items to either sell or synth with, use the other.

What confuses me is when I was making copper and bronze plates last night, my HQ plates gave 2, instead of a +1 plate. I was using my main-hand. When I immediately went to making my barbuts, I made a +1 right off the back.

It seems that not every item can be HQed, and whatever cannot be HQed will resort to the other "bonus", which is making more?

I don't even know if that's true either, though. Regardless, its a barometer, if nothing else.

    Hey they are trying lol

Also, I have been doing white orbs almost exclusively and waiting. I figured that white was highest chance and others were just higher rates of failure.

As long as they don't start asking what we think this should be good.

I remember the last time that happened.

Never really got a clear answer on this though:

What has higher chance of success? Standard or rapid?

I just assumed they were the same, but rapid gave you low quality, standard less progress but more quality.

It seems now standard has a way higher chance of success though.

Wait, I never remember a time where they implemented what -we- thought would be good.

    Expound upon that, would you?

Well, as a company I'd never implement balance changes for Jobs unless the player-base provided a shit-ton of info, and even then, I'd digest the info and try to reproduce it first. Things like UI upgrades, lag, ect., and even things like future events and quests; those are things I'd take consumer feedback on.

I think crafting is similar to FFXI. You just have more control over it, and also it has a weird interface overlayed ontop of the process. In XI, you had a higher chance of making HQs when your attempts were likely to be unsucessfull (ex: crafting on the opposite day of your crystal). This time its crafting bold on red orbs. Larger chance of failure but if you succeed then the reward is better.

Did people HQ a lot of at level synths in XI (HQing on things they were skilling on)? Only now and then. You can't force a HQ in XIV on at rank synths. I had a quality level of nearly 500 (+3 mats and nothing but bolds) and I didn't HQ. Your rank comes into play as well as your quality level. How much do you outrank and outgear the synth? I think that plays a big role.

I occasionally HQ crystals->shards (about 3-4 times a day) and my quality level is sub-100 and all I used was standards.

Yeah.. but from what I've noticed, is that players aren't very creative when it comes to this kind of stuff. Maybe things like the reward structure? We are good at number crunching, that's for sure. But it would be kinda weird if they wanted our feedback on that topic, lol.

I don't know; numbers are something that can be adjusted more easily than, I'd say, UI fixes or something.

    A. Main hand and off hand tools have varying characteristics which manifest themselves in different ways when a high-quality result is achieved while synthesizing. There are many possible outcomes. For instance, a successful synthesis with a main hand tool may result in a +1 or +2 item, while the result obtained with an off hand tool may be a higher yield of regular quality items.
idunno how any one here thinks SE is going to just hand us the answers. this sounds the exact same as everything i have heard for the past 7 years. so lets not all jump to conclusions on this one just yet

I think that translation for the offhand/mainhand thing is incorrect. In all honesty - looking at some of the tools it looks like main hand is better for the 'larger items' IE: weapons/gear/etc - and offhand is better suited for consumables/nails/arrows/etc so it would make sense that the offhand would give a higher yield(since you should be using that for the appropriate synths anyways).

About that different tools have different results thing.

If I'm a Carpenter and I'm trying to make some boots. Tool-wise you would think "Hey, I probably shouldn't be making boots with a freaking saw. Maybe the Claw Hammer would be a better choice!"

I wonder what the difference (if any) would be on synths like this that don't have the chance to produce more product. Before they made these changes, I was almost leaning toward certain synths being associated with a specific tool (i.e. higher success rate or w/e).

Edit: ^ Basically what he said lol.

This probably doesn't belong here but is there any way to determine what "tool" repairs your weapon/gear?

It's not that it was disproved, it's that it's mostly a superstitious thing since the sample size needed to accurately figure out if it affected anything is astronomical.

People just liked to believe in stuff to make them feel like an all-star when their synth HQ'd.
