Crafting is still painfully random as fuck. I've blown up so many white orbs on level 1 synths when I'm 19 it's like SE designed the system to just do whatever the fuck it wants.

Out of 30 levels of crafts, I've done 2/4 synths on a leve 10 levels above me, but lost more than I care to say to synths well under 10 levels below me. These devs can suck on my balls.


Oh and what is with rapid synth being completely useless now?

Are you sure they are Rank 1 synths? Many many many of the synths that YG has recipes for (listed as rank 1) are actually anywhere from ranks 10 - 25.

I've even started to see where YG has inaccurate recipes for colored equipment.

I think I'll have to stop using YG sometime soon because it is only reliable about 50% of the time.

So I just got rank 10 on my alchemist and I got "Preserve". I don't see it anywhere in my traits menu so I assume it's something passive that works behind the scenes? Does anybody know for sure?

It should be in your traits, for the bottom row called "abilities." You might have to manually pick Alchemist from the drop-down menu.

It sets your orb back to white for like 3 syntheses. It's awesome.

Awesome, thanks for the info. With that being said, how do I trigger it being that the hot key bar isn't up during crafting?

Crafting abilities show up randomly in the menu underneath the "Wait" option. You'll notice a scroll bar on the right of that menu when they do show up. I think no more than 3 abilities can show up at once (assuming you fit 3 in your bar), and I think you can't use each ability more than once per synth, as I have yet to see an ability appear again during the same item, even when using it right away.

It's pretty much a game of "oh my ___ ability is there... should I use it now, or should I wait and hope it shows up when I really need it to save my ass..."

Pretty sure I read somewhere that it does but.... If Hasty Hand fails do you fail the synth outright? I've used it 3 times and its completed me each time but halves the xp. But if it works 100% of the time it pretty much makes rapid useless.

I wish you could drag-expand the crafting bar like you can with the text bar. Having to scroll down to pick the bonus abilities is annoying.

No, they are lowbie recipes. I'm using ZAM & Lodestone atm for recipes, and they seem to be pretty accurate, which I wish wasn't the case.

What really gets me is just the bullshit random luck element they have to throw into crafting. Sure 70-80% of my stack of leather straps will turn out fine. It's the other 20% that just have a consistent flow of white orbs, that just want to explode no matter what. Which is ridiculous when i've bolded the one before it 100% and had quality out the ass.

I think what really gets me twisted is when i've actually spent my time & money finding good crafting gear for this. I Can really appreciate peoples opinions on the stats for everything being just a number with no actual effect at this point. "+80 DEX? Fuck you! this marmot will dodge 90% of your weaponskills anyway".

the main thing I've noticed after the patch, other than rapid being worthless, is that whereas prepatch you would consistently hit the 10%/20%/30% progress cap for bold/standard/rapid unless you were in way over your head, I'm now lucky to get over 15% per standard on a synth I know I'm more than capable of. Additionally, on local leves I used to dominate (i.e. evaluation over 100) I'm now lucky to successfully complete all the synths and get an evaluation of around 40.

Having taken armorer and leatherworker both to 8, I haven't had a single problem making anything that was at or below my level. I'm certainly not getting anywhere near a 20% fail rate on low level synths. Anything above my level is significantly harder, but I don't see a problem with that considering you can skill up on lower level synths.

For those of you having issues, what kind of stat allocations do you have? With or without crafting facilities? Has it been a consistent issue, or something you started running into at higher levels? I'm curious as to what might be causing such extreme discrepancies in peoples' experiences.

I can attest that at 19 carpentry, I am also having no issues crafting things at or under my lvl.

Infact I started making a rank 20 recipe last night and I made 2/3 of them. The one I broke was my own fault for trying to type while synthing.

So I agree with others that you are probably not making the right choices OR you need a better tool, if you are breaking a lot of things under your level.


I'd like to point out too, I am pretty much capped on available crafting gear atm too (seeking for a higher body than what I ahve though).

I do think they help.

Hasty Hand can fail and it can critically fail. If it fails you lose 50% of your durability. If it critically fails you lose ALL of your durability and fail instantly.

It won't clear unstable. Only blinking/yellow/red.
