That makes a lot more sense now. I usually just go to camps because it's quieter there.

As for the stats and the elements, one could assume an element by abilities. Weaver gets an ability at 20 that helps control wind stability, so while it's not a strong connection, it is one.

Also I have like 70 MND and 105 wind resistance. Weaver is easily my most successful craft.

Mind is a water-based attribute. Piety is wind. What is the most common element aetheryte used for weaving recipes? I haven't noticed any correlation between the class' native attribute, the elemental affinity of their traits/abilities, the element of the recipe's aetheryte, etc. and the type of instabilities that arise out of them.

All my attributes are currently dumped into Dexterity and Piety (Fishing) and I have a feeling that Cooking is successful for me because of the high Piety while my Alchemy isn't going quite as smoothly (no points in Intelligence at all). My elemental affinity has been all over the place as I constantly adjust it to meet the needs of my recipes when I run out of shards.

Weavers use notorious amounts of earth shards. With some lightning and wind here and there. I think unstable elements are only what you use in that synth, I don't remember making cloth and having an ice element unstabilize.

Even if MND is water based, it might have nothing to do with why MND + wind affinity = awesome Weaver.

I was doing an earth shard synth, and I definitely had an unstable ice element. Made absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

^This. I was actually talking with my LS in vent about this. I think I've had ever element at least once go unstable on me. And yes, Weavers use horrendous amounts of Earth shards. I can go through a stack of 999 fairly quickly, if you let me, lol

I personally don't think affinity really effects synth that much. I do just fine with an even spread across the board on that. The only difference I've noticed is stats. If anyone has noticed great change in synth based on affinity, it would be interesting news to me. I never experienced it with reassigning points.

Honestly, my reason for pumping wind was - like most others - gathering. So I'm inclined to believe my choice in elements helps me in some way.

And weird shit about instability, I've had a bunch before, wind and earth, but on those synths I was using those elements. If I get ice/fire/lightning instability on cloth, I'll know somethings up.

Only good thing coming out of this is my leveling alchemist for more earth shards.

I've gotten Ice/Water/Earth/Lightning so far on cloth synths.

I'm just going to go with it being a bug.

Those stats would make sense for why I got more success from synthing higher level Blacksmithing stuff, and I fail almost all the time with Weaving. I pumped a lot of stat points in STR and my Fire affinity is easily my strongest element.

I can verify that I have occasionally have seen an unstable element that was not used in the recipe.

I don't know if anyone has figured out the difference between Craftsmanship and Mag. Craftsmanship, but one thing I noticed while looking for a body piece for Leatherworker was that body pieces that favored TAN (Leatherworker) seemed to only give bonuses to Mag. Craftsmanship.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

On the Alchemy synth Crystal->Shards, I see all sorts of elements become unstable. I don't think its based on the shards/crystals.

    For example.

1x fine sand + 1 elemental crystal = 16 shards of that element.

I've seen fire synths lose their ice element, wind synths lose their lightning, water synths lose ice, earth lose lightning, lightning lose water, ect.

    on a semi-random note:

Just so people know the rank 20 class quest (for crafting at least) gives you 20k gil and 2k guild marks when completed. (b'')b

I am still trying to find 4 blindfish so I can synth the item I need to move my quest forward. =[ The first synth they provided the mats, but the second item I have to provide (illuminating salts, i think it was).

Oo you sure you don't find them somewhere?

I didn't have to provide anything for mine, but I had to click on some ??? in the area to get the mat they wanted.

Wevaers have to make some Red Riding Hood Cloak (made me lol). But requires Mesa-Red Dye for the cloth, haven't seen any for sale on my server so couldn't do the synthesis unfortunately .

Does anyone know the level a "sub" craft is acceptable before you stop getting the "Your x skill is not high enough for this recipe". I get it when making Cotton Shirts etc as a weaver since it requires leatherworking too, but lodestone just says 11-20 which is a wide spread.

I thiiiink you need Leatherworking at 15. Mine is at 12 and I still get that message. Also, I saw what you guys were talking about earlier, making cloth and lightning got destabilized.

    Rank 30 gives 30k gil and 3k marks. I'm sensing a trend.
