I don't get it. Bulls only have one weak spot on their team (Korver) and they are struggling at home against a weak team with an interim coach. I thought they were a lock for the Finals before the playoffs but I got serious doubts now.

Danny Crawford is officiating tonights Mavs-Blazers game which means the Mavs will probably lose.

They are 2-16 in playoff games officiated by him, and one of those wins Dirk had to score 50. It's well known he hates Cuban and some shady shit has gone down in those games, basically since he gave the Heat the Finals in 06.

Can't believe the league is letting him officiate the game right after there was ref controversy in the last one. All eyes are going to be on Crawford because of it so maybe he will be fair. Mavs average ~6 less FTAs in games he is on the crew.

Hill is a damn good actor. Not only did he convince the refs to call a foul on a slight bump, he convinced the refs he was Steve Nash.

That video reminds me how much I hate the Blazer announcers, although they were probably in line here. Mike and Mike ridiculous homers; the Blazers are only team I follow where I would rather have the national announcers rather than the local guys.

There were a couple of fouls on Dirk that I thought were questionable, but I agree with Nate that the bigger issue was they didn't appear to be being called equally at both ends of the floor. If you're going to call touch fouls, it should be consistent. It's hard for me to envision a reasonable scenario where one team outscores another 46-18 in the paint, but the other team gets a 19-2 free throw advantage in the fourth quarter, and the only two free throws were only shot because a dead ball foul was called. Yes, Dirk is the best player on the floor, but it's not like the Blazers don't have good defenders for him and have to resort to fouling to stop him.

Watching the game, it seemed like the perceived lack of calls got in the Blazers' heads, and they lost the confidence that had let them turn a 10-pt halftime deficit into a 6-point advantage with 5 minutes to go. It seems to me that grousing about officiating often causes more harm than good, because players lose the focus on the game itself and focus on the calls they aren't getting.

And just to be clear, no, I'm not blaming the refs for the Blazers losing Game 1.

Remember all those gambling scandal happened on those referee? They still allow those referee to officiate the game. So, I don't see any of the referee in NBA care about what the people think

In my opinion, Joey Crawford should never be allowed to ref a Spurs game. He once threw out Duncan for laughing, then wanted to fight him afterwards.

So what is everyone's take on the playoffs so far? The only team that has looked good so far is the Heat. Seriously, you have top ranked teams struggling/losing against low seeds.

The officiating has been worse though. It's only one/two games in, and the refs have made the worst calls ever, and it has cost teams the game.

I think the games have been pretty good so far. As usual, a lot of bogus calls, but I guess I can be pretty neutral about most of them since my team isn't even in the playoffs this year and I just like good basketball.

The thing that has bothered me most so far has been injuries. I know it happens every year, but it has been particularly annoying this year.

Namely,

Shaq out for Game 1
Manu out for Game 1
Afflalo out for Game 1
Nene missing a bit of Game 1 after a collision
Billups missing the end of Game 1 and questionable for game 2
Collison out for over half of Game 2 and questionable going forward

Etc. A lot of these players playing could have had a HUGE influence on the games (particularly upsets in the case of Afflalo, Nene, Billups, and Collison). Since my team isn't in the playoffs, I would love to see these underdogs win or go far instead of the same old.
