Anyone here on Mike&Mike that this will be the first NBA finals in 20 years without Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Jordan, or Olajuwan? Kinda retarded. Supposedly you can go back 30 or more years if you add Magic, Bird, and Thomas to that list.

I remember a stat a year or 2 ago that as unlikely as it seems, the MLB has more different teams make it to the playoff's than the other major sports... obviously the NBA is on the opposite end of that list.

You would be hard pressed to find a list of players better over both time periods. In the NBA a true superstar, like the ones listed above, are more important then any other sport. All the players listed had an ability to single handily win games they had no business winning

Baseball is the closest to the "indvidualist" sport. There are only two players that really have to work well together or form any sort of chemistry. The rest are just a bunch of guys waiting for their turn to bat.

Oddly enough, I think great players can have the greatest impact in basketball, but the poorest players have their greatest impact in football. If you have a shitty PG (Lakers), you can get past that with other good players (Kobe). If you have a shitty QB, it's damn near impossible to get over the hump, no matter how good your defense is. There's exceptions to the rule, but they're that...exceptions.

That would be true if the pitcher could score, and for most teams he doesn't.

Even a pitcher dominating can't win by himself, whereas in basketball one player can win all by himself.
