news sources saying the initial talks were bynum straight up for melo. also heard buss's son rejected it anyway.

and i think the reason nobody mentions KG is cause the eastern forwards are pretty weak compared to western where there are soooo many players having great seasons.

LOL what news sources? Sound like LA media trying to raise Bynum's trade value. There is no way Denver would even offer that up. Plus melo wants a contract, so lakers give up bynum/odem then watch melo leave once the lakers lose in the playoffs. shit makes no sense

I live in LA but not a fan of the Lakers. I was actually thinking about this before the reports tho. It's a total win from the pov's of Melo and the Lakers. From the Nuggets pov depends on what else they'd get instead of Bynum. But they'll pretty much get shafted no matter who they trade to. Knicks don't seem to be willing to give up much any more, since they think they can pick him up in the off-season anyways.

don't make sense to me either. nugs trading to a wc rival? right.

not that i believe it. prolly just some dumb laker fan starting a rumor (also conveniently opening up space for d-ho dream scenario when he's a fa) and broussard, the that tool he is, running with it.

I also dont see the Lakers giving up their size. And the Nuggets want a Center with a history of bad knees? What's next after Melo for Odom? Bynum for Howard? This is why I hate Lakers fans. They are like Yankees and Cowboys fans, they think everyone wants to play for their team. Just plain dumb fans.

lol. i used to read lakers message boards in early 2000's. the number of people who were convinced beyond a doubt that the lakers would add tim duncan to shaq and kobe was disgustingly high.

a lot of people think i'm a laker hater. ehh it's more of dumb laker fans driving me to hate the franchise. at least NY fans are a lot more knowledgeable in general about their respective sports. there are tons of people here in LA who pretend to know about sports when they can't even differentiate between kwame brown and shannon brown.

Right, because Shaq, Kareem, and Wilt didn't choose the Lakers over everyone else.

But Chris Brussard is all of a sudden a Lakers fan? What are you, never read ESPN before? If anything, the guy is putting this out there to give the Knicks pressure to make a move now, while causing whatever internal strife he can for the Lakers as an aside.

The Nuggets don't have any leverage. Their only hope is to keep Melo and have the next CBA include a franchise tag. If Melo is willing to extend and trade to the Lakers, they would be dumb not to meet and negotiate. The centerpiece to a Knicks deal is fucking Wilson Chandler, who has had more ankle pain and might need a third surgery this offseason. Bynum is at least young and huge.

i still don't think it makes much sense but i agree that a package with bynum is def a better haul than wilson chandler. but if they go that route they can't possibly be thinking to trade and compete: trade your best player to a WC rival, give them a bump in power and then try to take them down? no way.

also, even if the next CBA has a franchise tag i can't see it retroactively applying to the year before. there's no way the players association would agree to something like that. the better hope for them is that the new CBA has such a huge reduction in salary that carmelo (smartly) decides that leaving millions on the table is a bad idea. whatever happens though, nugs better work fast because they have a lot of veteran assets that can be turned into picks/youth. but if they don't do it soon then they risk coming out with an empty roster and nene/birdman as the faces of their franchise. not that i mind as a non-nugs fan: i like birdman.

I think it's more of the pick from the T'wolves? But yea, Knicks don't have much to offer.Lakers have a ton.

If assuming the Nuggets would still try to trade Billups like they did with NJ, Then it'd be Melo & Billups for Bynum + Odom/Artest + practically anyone making over 2.8m + (Sasha trade exception worth 5.5 mil) + picks would work

Yeah I guess you could say that pick is the centerpiece, but the problem with that deal in its current form is the TWolves wouldn't be happy giving up their 1st round pick for Curry and Randolph. Although I would really like to see Randolph reach his potential somewhere.

I think LA would be worse if they gave up Odom for Carmelo, and don't think they are considering including him in any deal.

This is the same shit every year for the last for years: trade deadline coming up, LA not in a good shape, some trade talk involving Bynum gets thrown around and nothing happens.

The Lakers don't like in-season blockbusters, and they've done exactly one the past couple of decades. It isn't going to happen this year, stop wasting your time.

In all honesty I think it's about time they gave up on Bynum. Like you said it's been going on since how long? Before J. Kidd went to Dallas at least. They play w/o the kid most of the time anyways. Depending on what else they have to throw in to get Melo this deal should be totally worth it.

Not caring if there is a deal, just saying Lakers do have the pieces to make it happen.

I know right, Lakers kept Bynum through all those trade rumors these past three years, and just look how crappy it made them.

They also reluctantly made a mid-season trade for Pau. I'm sure they hated trading Kwame for Gasol. They should have waited for the off-season.

Because trading a big for a better big is the same as trading a big for a wing. I get you, bro.

Man, why isn't that Bynum for Howard trade happening yet? GET ON THE PHONE KUPCHAK

Their first mistake was picking up Steve Blake, what a scrub.
