Pippen sounded retarded on Mike n Mike this morning. Does he have alzheimer's? He says Jordan was the best scorer ever, not player, and thinks Lebron could be the best all-around player ever? lol Lebron might be currently, but not even close to Jordan's godtier level.. how can he forget how dominant Jordan was defensively? Lebron, to me is more like Pippen with a touch of Jordan's clutchness. That's as close as I'll get to that comparison.
Bron ain't no slouch on the defensive side of the ball. Can guard pretty much any position on the floor and makes first team all defensive teams year in and year out. He'll be close when he wins a few titles. Still though, the NBA was much better then than it is now. The big men were better, the defense got away with more, so it's a tough sell.
This doesn't have anything to do with the discussion but god damn people forget how good of a defender Jordan was.
im actually enjoying this reputation I think. If 2 of your teams happen to be world champions, you must be a bandwagon fan homie. even if one hasnt one anything for years.
whats it like to not celebrate a world championship for your entire adult life?
Geeze I bet the bulls are wanting to go back in time and do the trade involving Noah to Denver for Carmelo. Makes me wonder if that EC finals would have been different with Rose having someone to dish the ball to.
Trading Noah off only would have made them lose earlier in the playoffs. Who do you think would have stepped up and crashed the boards at both ends? Boozer was supposed to be the other reliable shooter on the floor, but we all know how that turned out as the season went deeper. Either way, GO MAVS!
My Finals prediction: Mavs in 6, they will have to win 2 on the road. #realtalk
My analysis, I've watched every game in the playoffs so far, and about half of the Heats regular season too.
Mavs defense was leading the postseason in PPG before they had to shift their style for OKC's youth (basically keep game close until last 5 min then turn up defense, otherwise they would get outworked), but the Heat are almost as old as Dallas.
Heat in playoffs so far have played a team that would be ~12th in the West, the Celtics with two broken Centers and a one armed point guard, and against a great defensive team with 1 scoring option. All they had to do vs the Bulls is pack the paint and keep LeBron on Rose to contest his awful jumpers.
Mavs are not a bad defensive team, obviously they aren't as good as Bulls or Heat, but they were top10 even with their 2nd best defender out for the season. They had to play against 3 top10 offenses in a row and beat OKC who had the 2-time scoring champion. OKC is a triple scoring threat team (Durant/Westbrook/Harden with Maynor and Collison was a nuts lineup) just like the Heat so they have experience defensing it.
Right now the Mavs point differential is almost double the Heat. Miami hasn't had to play against any offense close to the Mavs in the playoffs yet, with an unguardable scoring threat and 4 players who can score 20+ off the bench.
Miami hasn't had their lack of depth tested yet, and Wade/LeBron/Bosh can't be on the floor at all times. Not to mention the Heat perimeter defense has not been that great in the playoffs, and no one outside Boston to exploit it - Terry and Peja are due for some big games.
It's going to be a tough series still -
PG - huge advantage Dallas, Kidd may be old but he's been ridiculous so far and Bibby is just awful
SG - big advantage Heat, Stevenson may be able to bother Wade a little but he's not much of an offensive threat. Kidd will also be on Wade and LeBron at times.
SF - big advantage Heat, this is the tough one, Marion is a very good defender but when Butler was healthy the Mavs were +28 when both Butler and LeBron was on the floor, and Butler held LeBron to 30% shooting in both regular season games. Butler is going to be missed here.
PF - big advantage Mavs, depends on which Bosh shows up but they won't be guarding each other anyways. LeBron has best chance of slowing Dirk down but won't be on him all the time, Chandler will be on Bosh mostly.
C - Big advantage Mavs, Chandler destroyed their older, less mobile Centers on the glass and Haywood has been great too. They didn't use Joel Anthony much so who knows.
Bench - big advantage Mavs. Jason Terry, Barea (they have no one to stop Barea, Chalmers may be the best shot), Peja > whatever ppl Heat have on the bench. Haslem and Miller have made their bench a little more respectable in the last series but the Heat bench was last in the league in scoring.
Coaching - Mavs advantage. Rick Carlisle has been genius this year and playoffs, managing a bunch of former All-stars and getting them to perform off the bench and using his bench masterfully to exploit matchups. The players are always prepared for their opponents and every game he made adjustments to counter the other team. Not to mention he is one of the best out of timeout playcallers in the league. Oh yeah and they also have Jason Kidd who is basically a coach on the floor and has outplayed every PG he's played against so far this postseason.
Spoelstra is fine, and it's not a huge advantage between games since they have Riley that will be the one making the real decisions but Riley isn't on the bench.
Basically Mavs have to do the same thing they did in the regular season to beat the Heat.
Keep one of the big 3 contained, when the benches start coming in use their advantage with JJ Barea penetrating and kick out to Terry/Peja, and rebounding will be huge. Can't let the Heat have 2nd chance points.
Bench and rebounding will be the difference.
Home Court is a big advantage in the Finals but these are the two best road teams (Both 28-7 I think) in the league and Dallas is currently on a 7-0 road playoff win streak.
It can go either way, if Heat's perimeter defense continues being bad though you might see some 20pt games from Peja.
Trading Noah for Mello would have been a terrible idea.
As much as I hate the Heat, I think id prefer they win so MoW and some of these Dallas dick heads will shut the fuck up.
Stopped right there, this Heat team is entirely different from the regular season and the playoffs are entirely different, normally a basketball fan shouldnt have to be told this but have to break through your homer wall at some point. Also going to bet most of that essay is homer bullshit as usual. My analysis, I've watched every game in the playoffs so far, and about half of the Heats regular season too.
Heat in 6, gunna go like this.
Game 1: Heat
Game 2: Heat
Game 3: Mavs
Game 4: Mavs
Game 5: Heat
Game 6: Heat
As a very casual fan, i'm torn on this. On one side I want the Heat to win just to add insult to injury to Dan Gilbert, on the flip side I really want to see Nowitzky and Jason Kidd win there first ring so I won't have to listen to the whole debate of they never won a title when it comes time to induct them into the HoF. Either way for the casual fan should be a fun series to watch.
I actually dont mind the Mavs at all, its just my spite towards the retard fucking fan base here on BG that makes me wish they would lose. Striker of course being the lone exception.
I'll loan him my Sean May Bobcats jersey, so ashamed I bought that piece of shit.
Haters, that analysis was unbiased. I also totally threw the regular season series out of it since Caron Butler was still healthy.
Try to argue any of those points.
Facts:
Dallas has a small to big advantage at 3 of 5 positions, Heat have a huge advantage at the other 2.
If anyone argues that Dallas bench isn't leagues better than the Heat they are crazy (Terry, Peja, Barea, Haywood all off the bench and 3 of those can score 20 any night).
LeBron/Wade/Bosh all have to have good games to win against the Mavs, they can't win just on their defense. They haven't faced the multitude of scoring threats and ball movement thus far in the postseason.
Also, the Dallas defense is not a pushover. They were top10 in the regular season and right behind Chicago and Miami in the postseason.
What should scare Heat fans the most is Miami's 38.5% 3FG defense and Kidd/Terry/Peja getting hot from the perimeter.
TLDR: All of Miami's flaws that everyone mentioned going into the playoffs were never exploited or put to the test, and they are still present.
