Yeah Dallas acquired all those players legit through trades, some of those guys have monster contracts that the Mavs ended up having to pay off and it ballooned their salary. They made some smart moves like getting Tyson for basically nothing, same for Peja and Corey Brewer.

You can go way over the cap in the NBA but you have to do it through acquisition and trade, it's not like the Yankees who just buy whoever they want every year.

It's tradition. A team wins a championship and everyone in the organization gets a ring to commemorate the achievement.

Over the last several years, the championship rings for professional sports teams have become larger and larger. So, having Mark Cuban as the Mavericks team owner, one would think that the Mavs would have the largest ring ever assembled.

But that's not the case.

Cuban revealed Sunday night on NBA.com that he has something different in mind.

"Rings are old school," Cuban said. "Rings are done. It's time to take it to the next level and do something different."

The Mavericks owner wouldn't elaborate on his plan, leaving everyone to speculate what his team will receive.

Seriously? If we were buying titles then we would have thrown the vault at Carmelo Anthony for a 3 month rental. You should know by now that trying to "buy" titles don't work too well. Hi Miami, hi LA's dream team experiment.

Edit: I can actually see Cuban doing championship belts. But it would get too flashy after the first month and that's not an everyday accessory. But how many people actually wear their championship ring accross any sport? Other than posing for a photo shoot with them, don't most people put them in trophy cases after about a week? So championship belts might work if they are kept in those. lol
