No depth on the bench and they get someone who has been called an empty superstar and a less exciting Dominique wilkins.

i bet its harder to find/replace 2-3 role players vs a max guy amirite?
denver made out like a bandit though, especially if they can turn those 4 players for more first round picks
I really cringe at losing Felton, but still glad to see it get done.
They should trade for Steve Nash...if they had anything to trade anyways.
Except for the fact that early reports are the owners are going to push for a hard salary cap and remove the luxury tax with the possibility of instituting a Franchise Tag to prevent Lebron/melo/bosh type things from happening again.
I'm happy for Carmelo that he finally got out of Denver. I went to high school with Josh Kroenke, and talk about getting handed a high paying, powerful job that daddy gave you...he was an average college ball player at best, and I never thought he was all that smart in the first place. No way does he get a job at that age with any other semi-competent organization at his age.
I don't blame Carmelo for wanting out of that situation.
Except the only owners that should be worried about a hard salary cap are the ones that are worried about winning championships, and the others don't hit the cap often enough to care. And Lebron/Melo/Bosh type "things" are always going to happen unless you completely remove free agency OR lazy uninterested owners/GM's
all a franchise tag will do is pro long the inevitable, just ask julius peppers, asomugah, dunta robinson, etc etc how it worked out for them
if a player wants to leave a team, it's a matter of when, not if. cleveland being able to tag lebron for 1-2 years wouldn't have amounted to shit in the long run bc he made it clear that he wanted no part of that shitty ass team
as long as you allow players to sign contracts with whomever they chose, they will do just that.
OH MY GOD SOMEONE PLAYED OUT THE LIFE OF HIS CONTRACT AND NOW HE WANTS TO SIGN ELSEWHERE?
QUICK SOMEONE CHANGE THE RULES
THIS IS AMERICA, NEGRO YOU WILL WORK WHERE THE WHITE MAN TELLS YOU TO
No lol
Two different sports.
In football teams can afford to give 28-29 year olds long term contracts because they're not guaranteed.
In basketball and baseball all the contracts are guaranteed and their is a cap on the years of the contract so unless you're still fairly young you might lose out on millions. That franchise tag can mean you don't get that extra year and also means that the team that might want you cause it cleared all that space for you might not have the cap space next year with the hard cap.
What I don't understand is how two of the most overrated superstars in Amare/Melo are now on the same team with a coach who believes in no defense. God that team's going to be even worse. If Amare couldn't win with Steve Nash at the point.. what makes them think he'll win with Melo there? Maybe they can play no defense together.
>implying that coaching is the answer to the knicks defense.
Don't have to look far. Coach thibs has one of the best defenses in the league and Carlos boozer is still a shit defender.
Amare and melo are two of the worst defenders in the league now they're on the same team. Melo being the less Terrible of the bunch

They will rack up wins in the regular season but come playoff time i cant see them getting past round 2, unless it is a very favorable match up, anytime in the near future.
