The Knicks have Amare, Melo, Billups and... no one else. No amount of coaching can get them past the first round unless they get lucky the team they play has a lot of injuries. Look at the Suns when they were hot. The best they got was almost beating the Spurs (where the Suns got jobbed obviously), but that was with one of the best PG in the league. Now they have..Billups as their PG? He's way on the other side of his career right now, and outside of some good games here and there, has been a large disappointment in Denver. He's basically going from one pretty bad defense to a horrible defense too.
The people saying "THE KNICKS ARE BACK BABY" are gonna be in for a rude awakening.
well, if they are meaning it as back to the level of play during the Ewing years, then... I do think they are back, kinda
btw, Denver is now the new Houston, ala role player mob bank
This year yes..they should end up about the 6th seed. They wont be able to beat the likes of Boston, Miami, Orlando or Chicago in the playoffs. Next year they should end up with a top 4 seed which in the east means they pretty much have a 1st round bye. During the 2nd round they will have to face one of 4 top tier east teams.
They are being built as a regular season D'antoni team. We all know how that turns out.
Serious question did the knicks ever go to the finals during the ewing years? I know they didn't during Michaels reign but didn't they make it during the strike shortened year? I'm driving at work atm so not sure.
Other than maybe that one year they were good enough to be mediocre year after year.

Yeah they played the SPURS in the 1998-1999 season.
The 1999 finals was after Ewing too. So yeah, yeah it was Rockets/Knicks and that was during Jordan's lolbaseball career.
and we would have won if ewing knew how to make a free throw
Didn't I talk to you about regurgitating the opinions of people from the four letter network?
Billups is 50% of the reason why this is a good trade for the short term. He will know how to transition mello into their offense without alienating Amare. And he'll be the veteran presence that this young team will need moving forward. Outside of the obvious (dwill, cp, rose) there aren't many PG's that I would rather have running the Knicks offense in it's current state. Amare and Mello can both shoot till their faces turn blue, having a veteran PG to monitor their shot output is exactly what they need to get their chemistry going.
Edit:
idk what you've been smoking but the Suns brought the Lakers to 6 games in the western conference finals last year with a 36 y/o steve nash and a (shocker) no defense amare stoudemire. and that was after they swept your beloved spurs in 4 games.
now I'm not saying the knicks are going to the finals, but you need to improve your memory span past the last airing of espn's first take
No lol

shut up lol
KNICKS
To be honest, I'm sick and tired of every one of my opinions being ripped apart as shit I got from ESPN. All that shit I said up there? My own 'stupid' opinion. I know you've got your shades on to ignore the fact that the Knicks are now only slightly less irrelevant than before, but deal with it. Billups is OLD. Yeah, I'm sure he's going to pick up right away how to incorporate Amare, Mello, and whoever else they have play witht hem. Unless somehow, the Knicks have Mello and Amare scoring around 45+ a night.. I don't see how this all works.
Again, the fact that you're hinging this as a good deal because you got Billups? Lol. I guess we haven't seen where the Nuggets have gone when he was apart of that team.
And yeah.. the Suns brought the Lakers to 6 games. Lemme check my facts. Did the Suns actually beat the Lakers during that series? Maybe we should give them a participation trophy for taking LA to 6 games? I guess the Knicks can get used to participation trophies too, huh? And Nash at 36 is infinitely better than Billups when it comes to distributing the basketball. Period.
But yeah. I could blame your idiocy on being a New York guy, and I should know who I'm arguing with considering Moss>Rice or someshit.
and wait wait, beloved Spurs? wtf? Hopefully that wasn't directed at me or you truly are a retard.
Billups gets burned bad like fisher and nash by the younger PGs. Parker shit all over Chancey last time they played, to the point that he FF Parker upside the head. I know Billups is a pro, but im sure he is not happy about being moved.
I still think his happiest times were when he was in Detroit.
Knicks are fucked. I wouldn't be happy if I was a Knicks fan. Assuming they sign Melo to a max deal, they will be hamstrung by the cap and won't have the cap room to sign Deron Williams or CP3.
As for billiups he was happy in Denver.
So much so that he was planning on taking a front office job there when he retired
