Sound Effects volume

I apologize if this is general knowledge, I've searched the tech forum titles and haven't seen this issue pop up.

I am unable to adjust the volume of my in game sound effects. The bar slides right and left but the sounds don't change volume at all. Background music and system sounds adjust perfectly, I'm only having a problem with sound effects. Disabling sound device in the FFXIV external config app works fine, but I'd really like to run sans music at half sound effect volume so that I can play my own soundtrack.

For now I think I can just use the mixer app to lower the FFXIV output to 50% but it irks me that this isn't working properly.

Am I overlooking something or could this possibly be a bug?

I think it is a bug. Ive tried to lower sfx too because 1000 crafters blowing shit up in you ears is nerve grating.

It is a known bug (or at least known to us), you can really hear it when trying to run anywhere, footsteps are incredibly loud compared to the music and other sounds and adjusting the slider doesn't seem to help.
