    Stop the Internet Blacklist!

Surprised I didn't see a thread about this.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-..._b_739836.html

a group of powerful Senators -- Republicans and Democrats alike -- have signed onto a bill that would vastly expand the government's power to censor the Internet.

The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) was introduced just one week ago, but it's greased and ready to move, with a hearing in front of the Judiciary Committee this Thursday. If people don't speak out, US citizens could soon find themselves joining Iranians and Chinese in being blocked from accessing broad chunks of the public Internet.
    Edit: http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2010/09...p-bill-delayed

The Senate Judiciary Committee won't be considering the dangerously flawed "Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act" (COICA) bill until after the midterm elections, at least.

Youtube seems like the most extreme example.

Odds are this wouldn't happen, I doubt such popular sites would be blocked by the govt without massive blowback.

Energy would be better spent fighting against the threat of ISP's right to filter or throttle web access as they see fit.

This is stupid in fact it is so stupidly easy to get around anything like this it just makes it even stupider. One day I couldn't get to What using Comcast's DNS so I did a "Is it down for just me or everyone" and saw it was down for just me so I set my router to use Google's DNS servers and all was well and I've been using them ever since.

TL;DR or "I don't get it": If and when this happens switch to Google's DNS and all shall be well unless somehow the government gets to Google. Which as I've heard taking Google to court is like taking the sun to court.

They're re-addressing the issue. They have had a whole month to reconfigure their battle plan against the Internets.

    tl;dr-

    This friday it happens again~
