FFXIV Has Stopped Working. No, this isn't a problem already listed. Faulting Module- ffxivgame.exe

I have scoured the forums, there are fixes to the "FFXIV Has Stopped Working" and it usually involves an ATI card and updated drivers.

I'm on a Nvidia card. In fact, I'm on a-

This is the constant error I get-

Faulting application name: ffxivgame.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4ca10e11
Faulting module name: ffxivgame.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4ca10e11

    Report Id: 8859d6f9-cf82-11df-9acf-000f9f916761

    ------------------------------

    I have tried the following-
    -Reinstalled the game multiple times
    -Reinstalled Windows
    -Update drivers
    -Rollback drivers
-Cleaned out all of my video card drivers and reinstalled drivers again
-Same as above only going with beta drivers
-Attemped every Config possibility (Maybe not all, but close)
    -Run game as Administrator
-Run game in 1,2,3, and 4 cores by setting Affinities in CMD
-Run game and set it's Priority to High, Normal, Low, etc
    -Poll the audience
-Set the compatibility to everything on the list (Funny enough W98 mode held out the longest)

So, now. I fall to you. If it's hardware failure, which I can't find indication of, then so be it. If it's Square's shitty coding and I am waiting on a patch, that's fine to. I feel like I'm losing a bit of sanity by trying and trying to get some stupid game working, but it's gone beyond my will to play this piece of shit game. It has become a battle. So, it's either get this fixed or I am swimming to Japan to explain "western culture" to some SE employees.

Thank you in advance for any help.

GPU isnt usually the cause of this error, Ram is and this has been discussed repeatedly. Thanks for trying to make it look new though.

I should have typed that in the first post. I have tried multiple RAM sticks, ranging from 4GB to 8GB with no avail, that Exception Code can mean fifty different things, in this case not RAM. Thanks for trying to look smart though.

If you want to see me looking smart, look in the other post where I linked the other person to the other site that talks about the other possibilities for even more other people with the same problems as you. smart enough?

Edit: I know you want your error to be special but... http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/991...ght=0xc0000005

Couldn't be further from the truth, I already knew that 0xc0000005 fault line was a common error for pretty much every program on the planet. I wish it had a common diagnosys as to what is causing it. There are three or four reasons this event is occuring. That code is found on all of them. If you didn't have correct ATI drivers, you get that code. If you are having problems with the game trying to run the same process on more than one core, you will get that error. If your system can't handle the game and you crash, you get that error.

I know the guy from your post in 2007 said that that code is usually found with RAM. Well, it is. But, that doesn't mean it's always RAM.

Elephants are gray, not all gray things are elephants. I actually looked over that thread before I posted this one. Clearly, had I found an answer or anything the least bit relevant I would not have bothered putting this bit up. Not only was Windows 7 not available at the time of that post, but I'm able to start the game up and play fine for anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours.

Random update, I have narrowed it down to 64bit OS Dual/Quad Cores for now. If you boot your computer using only 1 core, you can avoid this error altogether. You will have to play your game with it looking like FFXI however. This basically makes it a software problem and the only way to get around it for the time being "cheating" your computer. The ffxivboot.exe error apparently has been around since Beta with no public acknowledgement from SE, but it's really on them to fix.

If anyone else is having this error, you can list me off your faulty module name and I can tell you what (if anything) you can do with it.

Sounds like your processor may be faulty and one of your cores has a bad ALU. Perhaps you should run prime95 or linx to see if your OC/stock cpu is damaged.

Please dont do this (edit bios to deactivate all but 1 core) with a steep OC or you can say goodbye to your processor. (also, it is not what you narrowed it down to otherwise all people with 64b W7 4+cores would have this problem)

    Some ideas for you:

    (test your processor as above)
    Reformat your hard drive.
    Reinstall Windows.
    Update all drivers.
    Install FFXIV.
If game still errors then it is compatability with one or more of your hardware elements.
Replace your ram with a different model.
If game still errors then it is compatability with one or more of your hardware elements (sans RAM alone).
Replace the GPU with first set of ram.
If game still errors then it is compatability with one or more of your hardware elements (sans RAM+GPU combo alone).
Replace the GPU with second set of ram.
If game still errors then it is compatability with one or more of your hardware elements (sans RAM+GPU combo alone).
    Replace your motherboard.
(are you getting the drift?) You can keep going until you determine what caused your error and then inform SE that they need to find out why your combination of hardware is not working with their game.

But dont expect it to be something common amongst people who can play the game without crashes.

Also, just so you know... (vista 64b 4cores) I crashed occasionally on 12gigs of ram, I removed 6 gigs and it ran flawlessly. I sent in my ram and had it replaced which allows me to run the game with 12. (faulty ram that passed memtest.org/prime95/linx but failed in FFXIV and CIV5)
My wife has never crashed (W7 64b 6cores).

I am one out of plently who play the game with the same configurations that you claim is causing your error.

It might be my processor, but I've ran the game on 1, 2, 3, and all cores and the only way it will run with any extent is on the one core. I am going to replace all of my memory this week, and who knows, maybe you are right and that will fix it. I can bum a 260 to ensure that it is not my GPU as well.

I also have trimmed down the error by turning off the hardware mouse (Running on 4 cores) and all but eliminated the error. I haven't had a chance to play much, so not ready to say that this is concrete. Seems to be REALLY random to me if that is what is causing things.

I will download that bit and test out my processor after work tomorrow and will put up results. I dumbfoundedly expected more people to chime in here with similar problems and starting to doubt that the non-driver error is as common an issue as I originally thought.

That is a scary thought that your RAM passed memtest but still was having a problem with other software.

Just to clarify, I don't think that anyone with my exact set up is going to have an error. Obviously, there is something wrong somewhere, either on my end or SE's or a combination of both. There are a plethora of small differences between each build of a computer and mine happens to spike an error. Usually trying to locate the problem is quite easy with some googling and tech forum browsing, other times, such as my case, it's frustratingly painful to figure out and you wind up resorting to trial and error or halfwitted schemes in general (Booting off one core) (On a side note, I just used msstartup and selected to go to one core on boot, this is what I meant by "running off one core" or "booting off one core" I am a bit of a layman with correct word usage with computers, so I might be doing something entirely different than I am making it appear)

Regardless, I apologise for coming off snarky in earlier posts and I will play the "I was really fucking frustrated" card. Thanks for the tidbits and I will get back to testing. I know this post is a lot of random thoughts jumbled together, just off a double and brain not working 100%

by the way this has been happening to a lot of people today after the update faulting ffxiv.exe, etc like you mentioned. It happened to me, my 2 friends and SE phone support told me they've had numerous reports today after the update about this issue.
