Got into an accident

Omw to school today, I got into a "Fender Bender". It's been raining nonstop here and I was driving on a very busy street. I wasn't on my phone or anything, was paying attention. The car infront of me pummeled into the car in front of her that was turning, her lights didn't even go on for braking which caused me to hit me brakes, and slide a good 10 yards dinking the bumper of the car who got into the accident. My car has literally no damage, and the car I hit has a 2 inch scrape, but her front is literally smashed saying peace to her engine.


What I did:

I was omw to school and I was taking an exam and handing in a project, I could NOT miss this test, seeing how the teacher gave a strict list of what exempts you from tests, and a car accident (lol) was on the list as un- excusable. I exchanged all my information with both the drivers, and asked permission to leave so I can make it before the teacher locks the door. The lady I hit, who's car is raped was old and so was the first driver, the lady who was in the middle assured everyone it was her fault etc, she was crying.

Question:
Am I fucked, or can I get fucked for leaving? I exchanged all my info, and asked at least 3x if I should stay, all said go take my test.

You should be ok by exchanging info and not be credited with hit-and-run, but you should try to find out who the cop was that came to the scene and make sure your side of the story was reported correctly and call your insurance company to report the accident.

Should have stayed at least till the cops showed up. The lady that was admitting fault could easily change her story. Plus the cops could be dicks and nail you for driving to fast for road conditions or following to closely. On another note, did this happen to be on Asylum Ave in Hartford? There was a nice 3 car MVA which made me late to work this morning.

but anyways, you should be fine.... you exchanged information, no one was badly injured. So you did your part, it would have been better if you did stay until a officer arrived though.

I've had professors require proof before, whether it be for illness, car accidents, or funerals. It's another thing if they just dismiss that kind of thing altogether, proof or not.

You should definitely go to the professor next class be like, "Okay, so I actually did have a car accident the morning before the test. I made it to class, but I had to leave before the cops got there."

It might have no effect on your experience in the class, but she may reconsider being such a bitch in the future.

I would call and contact the officer who handled the accident, and get a copy of the police report. I would also call your insurance company. Even if you didn't cause the accident, the insurance agencies may still find you partially at fault for damages. If anyone from THEIR insurance calls and attempts to talk to you, don't.

This is because so many students' 'grandfather' conveniently die right before an exam. Yes it sucks when it really happens, but there are just too many cases where students will do whatever it takes to get out of an exam. A friend of mine had a student yesterday who missed an exam two weeks ago in the class she TAs and claimed he was sick then. She told him he had to bring a note from the health center from that day certifying he was sick. Came in this morning to take the makeup test with a note that said he was sick yesterday.. ..stupid kids >.>;

That said your insurance will probably go up for the scratch, but your insurance shouldn't be required to cover the front end since that damage was already there based on time lines of the accident. That said, I'd consider bringing up the fact that you had to skip waiting for a cop on a car accident due to there policy and should be reconsidered in the future to just bring proof of it. Hate asshole professors like that.

Go to the Dean of Students or the Dean of the Faculty with the police report to bitch about your professor's policy. Legitimate unforeseeable circumstances should not get you penalized and the fact you may incur legal/monetary repercussions due to this professor's policies is terrible.

Accept nothing more than ZERO liability in the accident. Your percentage has to be run by you and be approved. If other people reading this don't know what I'm talking about or think they never got the option, then they've been outright hosed or are in need of a new agent.

As a driver your supposed to be in control of your car, and a far enough distance away from the car in front of you. Per the weather conditions, either the OP (sorry for calling you out) was either delayed in applying his brakes, was traveling too fast per the weather conditions, following too closely or badly needs new tires.

Your missing it. You don't be a push over and accept anything. You hold your ground as best you can. If they say 1% liable, when your record is brought up its gonna say accident. Don't count on it listing faults or percentages.
