Your missing it. You don't be a push over and accept anything. You hold your ground as best you can. If they say 1% liable, when your record is brought up its gonna say accident. Don't count on it listing faults or percentages.

Maybe in a state that doesn't require that you have insurance, but in majority of other states it does not work like that once insurance is involved.

He rear ended another car, so his insurance needs to get involved no Ifs/buts about it. They can say 0 liability, but it will still be on your record (not to mention insurance costs going up slightly).

The accident also required police response. The accident, involving his car will now show up on cad for police databases.

I have a teacher like that. She's all like "If someone in your family dies, you better have a copy of the obituary with you when you come to my office, or don't even bother knocking" lol

I had a professor like that, and for good reason -- she actually counted and in one class of 25 people, 19 of their grandparents died throughout the semester.

So little update, called the officer on duty, he told me a third car (me) was never even reported. Had an appraiser come out to see my not damaged car (policy), and everything else is good to go. Probably will see a little increase in insurance but overall nothing bad happened. Also got a 96 on my test, good day.

FYI you are ALWAYS liable if you rear end another vehicle. always. As another poster mentioned its your responsibility to be at a safe enough distance to not rear end them. You can try and push for zero liability, but you won't get it. You may be found 1% at fault instead of 100% which may not impact your rates as much, but you will be at fault somewhat. Coming from my girlfriend who works at Liberty Mutual in bodily injury claims.

Sounds like the middle car wasnt a douche and you may get out of it scott free. You'll most likely hear from one of the two other companies somewhere down the line though.
