Not that I wont find out tomorrow but I am impatient, what was the funday monday for next week. I was kind of distracted and only caught something about alphabetical something.. lil help here.

IMO, this week's FM was a bit weak compared to the previous. I don't think he had enough time to really look for good games because of IEM.

Probably, I swear I played some better ones than a couple of those. Ultralisk Queen Infestor Ghost/nukes was my favorite. I did a straight to ultra rush while one friend went mass mass queen + proxy hatch into nydus play, eventually synergizing with me when there was enough creep for him to keep up and spam transfusion on my ultras. The infestor guy kinda got raped early on by lings, but still got a couple out to mess around with. The nuke guy was hilarious in that he would say in all chat before every nuke who he was about to nuke, and still managed to do so much damage. Fun game.

I must say, I don't much like this week's conditions. I'm hearing several accounts of everyone with early-alphabet names getting raped right at the offset and the people with late-alphabet names getting to sit back and make a 200/200 army of whatever the hell they want. I would guess that, among the demographic of SC2 players that play FFA, a large number of them also watch Day9 (And Funday Monday especially). As such, you're gonna get a ton of games where everyone is going in order and some people just get arbitrarily screwed.

The fix would be to make the rule Alphabetical relative to your own name (and wrapping around). So for me (SC2 name Sylvr) I would start with S+ and work my way back around to the Q-S range.

Na thats no fun.

Part of Day9's idea is to mess with the game and he is doing exactly that.

If you play FFA you can either avoid it for a week(big deal) or prepare for something different.

I like that he messes with peoples game and screws with the system. Its about time things changed a bit and for the better I think.

I thought that was the condition? I dunno, I missed near the end but a thread on TL I was reading recruiting for FFAs already were working under that assumption.

Either way, I don't like this funday monday much at all, it feels like its getting farther away from the point. The queens and carrier ones were awesome in how they made you think very differently about your matchups. Last weeks was fun to do, but was definitely pretty inefficient (if you went for high tech) or already common (pure low tech). This weeks is just kinda weird.

Also kind of annoying because I've been farming FFA wins recently, and I don't expect an influx of people doing this alphabet thing will help my win rate if they take it the literal alphabetical order way =(

I think the main reason for these conditions is that he wanted to give the FFA people some attention. I expect next FM to go back to 1v1.

At the beginning on his Newbie Tuesday, he said he was a bit disappointed about his Monday cast. He's going to revisit the 3v3/4v4 single unit replays at a future date. I don't blame him either, he's sick, just had 2 red-eye flights over a weekend of constant webcasting @ IEM, and he's still managed a relaxed newbie tuesday cast.

As long as no one is playing seriously to win, FFAs can be pretty fun (see TeamLiquid FFA). Otherwise, it just ends up being the guy who attacks last and doesn't get attacked himself that wins the game, especially if they can expand freely.
