Connecting to DVR Cameras From outside location/computer

I am trying to connect to my DVR and watch my cameras and I'm unable to access them.

-active X controls set to proper settings.
-Static IP address on the computer with DVR
-I've set the DVR IP to the gateway using example 1.1.1.18
-trigger port from DVR example 80

I am only able to view the DVR on the computer that I have the DVR/router hooked up to, but can't view anywhere else outside remotely.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, when I type the ip to my browser

So, youre trying to view a network peripheral outside of it's network? While thats nice you set a static ip to that PC, it doesnt matter if youre outside of it's network. You have to VPN or Remote in first. And if you dont have a static IP with your ISP, VPNing in is a pain, and your best bet is to use remote software.

So either remote in and then access the stuff, or get a static ISP IP and set up the peripherals that way so they can be accessed via a web interface.
