Random question thread gets repetitive questions all the time. Skim the last 2 pages, and if you don't find an answer feel free to ask your question. Standard was basically collapsed into "What's better?" and "Random Question thread." No one looked past the first page or two of threads in Standard anyway, and most of the topics were single-question topics that fell into either of the two categories. Those two threads are now "Standard" and people reserve making new topics in "Advanced" for when there's a game-changing discovery or new content added that people will want to talk about. It is really a pretty effective system, but only because of the general agreement that that's how BG works. If we were going to add one more sticky, it'd be "What Great Katana Magian should I do?" because I swear that gets asked every other day. (Empyreal -> WoE -> WS damage w/5-hit -> STP w/ 5-hit, iirc)

Random question thread needs to be turned into the random question sub forum, with a different rule set to prevent abuse and stupidity.

I don't know. I enjoy being able to answer multiple questions at once. Downside is that I get the feeling a lot of times people don't remember to check the thread to see if their question was ever answered.

Standard section should come back, simple as that. Standard was way more popular than advanced topic wise, but for whatever reason, advanced was kept with barely any new topics (see month old threads still on the front page) yet the entire standard section was dumped into the cess pool that is the random question thread. Makes sense though, right? People bitched about standard because they couldnt be useless faggots and troll every thread if they deemed it not worthy enough of BG. At this point, might as well get rid of the "new topic button" for 99% of members. Could always screen every post too.

To answer your question, S-E has said nothing regarding whether there will be further progression beyond the +1s so nothing is known for certain. New magian weapons have come out with every update, and there are still further level increases in the works, so it's fairly likely that there will be better magian weapons down the line.

He was linked to the random question thread and YOU were the one bitching about that, when it's in fact a part of the current forum rules. It's a great thread, and is used by a lot of people every day to handle these kind of questions. No one would have (and didn't, actually) bitch at him in there. Banning him for making a thread once is obviously going too far, assuming he doesn't act like a douche about it, but we've seen it happen in the past, due to people not knowing how to adjust to our way of doing things.

I would try to explain this all for you again, about how the forum is set up for random questions to go into the...wait for it....random question thread. If Abyssea got its own section now, it would leave Advanced pretty much dead outside the Random Question Thread. Abyssea IS the current FFXI. MMM got its own section because it's only a handful of people that care about it, but there's still some very specific things that can require their own threads (rather than just the one thread they had beforehand).

As for the other concerns raised: if your version of what Stanvanced should look like is the next coming of Christ, PM me with a break down of your proposal. I've answered in numerous threads why things are they way they are. If you have an actual outline, show me, if you're just bitching, you're a bitch.
