All my worst nightmares were when I couldn't dictate my own actions. I've had a few where I could control myself though.

When I was like 8 I played Morrowind for the first time, and I consistently had nightmares about me running from fucking Netches
If you know what's going on then it can't be inexplicable surely?""What happens with gamers is that something inexplicable happens," Gackenbach explained. "They don't run away, they turn and fight back. They're more aggressive than the norms.""
Unless they're trying to create a paradox for explaining the inexplicable.
I don't even remember having a dream in 1st person, always 3rd for me.
I dont know if you would call them "lucid nightmares", semantics. Personally, although I remember most dreams and about half of them are lucid, I am not that good at them so I dont often 100% control them. As a consequence, I sometimes have fairly fucked up dreams in which while I know they are not real and I am able to make up things like "think" that a particular enemy, is going to explode out of nowhere (and make it so), have a weapon appear out of the air, make myself ethereal to avoid a hit, etc... I still cant yet stop the nightmare and have to fight it. So when you can control a few things and yet not change the general outcome of the nightmare I guess it can be called a lucid nightmare. Unless lucid = 100% control onry.
About OP matter, I dont know. I know plenty of lucid dreamers are gamers, and plenty of them arent. Whether playing videogames has a significant impact in making a person start to be able to control/alter their dreams, I have no idea, I guess it could be one out of the many factors. Same goes for people that dont control/alter them but are able to realise its a dream and wake up.
I rarely have nightmare, but when i do, it's always about zombies
By "lucid" I mean when you actually realize that you're dreaming, not just when you have a degree of control.
If this article were true, I would stop dreaming that I run in slow-motion 99% of the time. Sometimes I can rollerskate on any surface, but that's just from my skate fetish and watching too many videos.
But, I have to say, I usually control the outcome of my dreams/save the day/etc. Too bad I can't change the fact I run like I'm on Jupiter(or drugs).
That happens to a lot of people, lol, shit is frustrating.
Only for you. <3
As far as nightmares and waking up from them, I don't think I've had any of those for quite some years. My dreams seem to mainly contain random elements from life and throw them together in a weird slushie.
Ironically enough, last night my dream was mostly in first person- though it switched to third at some point.
Stay up for two days and sleep for one like I do and you will have fucked up vivid dreams. I don't know what it is but 85% of my dreams feature me not wearing pants.
Ban video game, it makes gamers more violent in their dream.
And it also turns them autistic and into misanthropes.
My recent dreams lack that final fantasy feeling
