    Laptop Warranty without Receipt?

So I bought this laptop in like May, I know it had the 1yr if you break it they replace it... but someone fucking threw out my receipt. The laptop is in perfect condition, no big deal, but I'm thinking of selling the laptop in order to get a different one. I don't want to screw the buyer, since I wan't to offer it to BG'ers first.

Will this affect the buyer at all? Can they still throw it down the stairs and somehow get a replacement? Is there a way for me to get a new receipt or warranty info to transfer it over or whatever so the buyer can have this warranty intact?

The laptop was bought in store at a Best Buy.

If no to pretty much any of the above, then I'll probably sell it outside of BG. I can't believe I have the original box but somehow the receipt got thrown out.

There is no "If you break it, we'll replace it." warranty at Best Buy for computers. If it's physically damaged, it'll be sent to service for 2-3 weeks. And if you did buy a plan on it, you can change ownership. You can get a copy of the receipt if they can find your plan number; usually with just your telephone number. To fully change ownership of the plan, just go to a Geek Squad with the receipt with the plan number on it and the info of the person whom you're selling it to. Takes only a few min. if that to upgrade in the system.
