Incoming logic:
Okay, pretend you have a ten foot piece of wood and you want to have two equal pieces of wood that measured three feet each. It takes five minutes to make the first three foot piece of wood, and another five minutes to make the second piece of three foot wood. If the questioned ask how long it would take to make a third piece of wood it would be fifteen minutes. Again, a ten foot piece of wood can be cut three times if you wanted three equal length three foot pieces.

It's the assumption that it's the distance/time of her cuts that is the same, not the cuts/time.

Couldn't you look at the problem like she's cutting pieces off of a larger wood piece, kind of like a loaf of bread. So she would need 2 cuts to get 2 pieces of wood from the larger piece.

I mean it's stupid but I could see someone looking at it like that.

With the info presented, you want to make 1 into 3 and it takes you 10 mins to make 1 into two, it's going to take you the same fucking time to make 2 into 3.
