    Economic Growth book recommendations

    Hello!

One of my classes this semester is on Economic Growth. Basically, it is studying from a multi-view perspective on various causes of growth.

Anyway, one of the assignments is a 10 page book review, with about 30% of it on my own analysis of the arguments being made. The requirements are:
    a) It's on Economic growth (duh)
    b) It's been written in the last 10 years.

Any recommendations on a good book, BG Economists? My additional requirements might be that they aren't too long (10 page review doesn't leave much for extensive analysis) and hopefully it is somewhat interesting (even if it's totally right or wrong).

I don't really know too many books about Economic growth, never really liked macro too much. However, "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" might work for your assignment depending on how tightly the book needs to be associated with growth. It's an interesting read, but I'm very skeptical about how much he stretches the truth just to shock and gain support from the reader. But anyway, probably the only interesting book I can think of that deals with your assignment. The only problem is it might not deal with growth enough to be accepted by your professor, figured I'd still suggest it though.

Definitive book on economic policy and development. It's a BIG read but you can just watch the corresponding CBS show and use that for your overview.

Covers large scale topics like Friedman (Chicago School) vs Keynes, socialism vs capitalism, mixed economies, etc. They also suck off Jeffery Sachs but w/e

I will e-mail my prof about both books The second may be far more relevant (though 512 pages may be a bit much for a 10 page paper).
