Yeah I doubt that is their intention, with what 60+ leves for rank 30 and 40 as opposed to ~30 for rank 1 to 20..

I wonder what would happen if they standardize the skill gain.

Anyway, I'll look into the GL skill gain.

I'm kind of curious if.. by chance physical level/vit? has some role in exp gain (that and mob types)

    Lv24 Pug 91 VIT physical level 35
    all done solo

Green con doe east of camp glory, it gives 50-110 exp (hits 60-80)
Semi challenging fight with a green con wolf in the same area 150-220 exp (hits 80-140, yellow con 120-160)
Green con skeleton in LL (in a cave north of bloodshore) 220-300 (hits 50-80)
Orange con crab (island crab) south bloodshore area 150-220 (takes forever to kill, very easy fight) (hits 140-220)
Yellow con highway man (cave in north of cedar aether in LL) 150-220 (easy kill, dies slow as hell) (hits me 60-110)
yellow con coblyn things in nanawa mines 30-80 (hits me like 30-60)

very large.. range of exp ... ;/

Regarding guildleves, do people sharing in on your leve get a bonus to skill points w/ or w/o Favor as well? Would be interesting, I might just hang around the specific rank camps and help out other people doing leves. I know an Archer in my linkshell said he leveled only on leves with a tiny bit of grinding and he's at 30 right now.

my LS has been doing the duo/afk thing in our grinding as of late. Works especially well in Cass/Coerthas.

Find someone who is about to log and duo up with them. Have them afk in the same zone as you're grinding. Your SP is doubled and you get all of the skill gains because you are the only one killing things.

400-500 skill on almost every mob as a 23ARC / 25PHY. Multishot also gives a retarded amount of skill when paired with Raging Strike/Ferocity.

Edit: also was trying to test this: does optimal level gear affect your skill gains if wearing it above your level? Or does it just reduce your stats?

You'd also get half the physical Exp since the latest patch has it distributed even if the other person isn't doing anything. May become a factor if you chose to abuse that too much.

That's true, but not a huge concern since you can craft a small amount and never have to worry about your PHY level.

Yea phy xp is very easy to make up via crafting. When grinding I think most of us just care more about the skill up. Thats all i really look for. Also wondering how more people add to the skill gain multiplier. Is it base skill x # of pt member? So trio is 3x base skill and 6person pt = 6x skill gain ? Lyra stated trio is another 50% gain which is actually 3x base skill.

Edit : Are these rules only applied to mage and/or archer class or more precisely ranged atk? Do melee follow a different rule of skill gain? Magic ?

Things I want to continue testing:

-Confirm the extra bonus for each additional party member after the initial +100% going single->duo.
-The effects of Well Fed, if any.

Effects of well fed vary for every food item. If I recall correctly miqo'abobs are like 6 attack. Scragg from FFXIVPro/FFXIAH is currently in the process of adding the food effects for each item. Some are up for viewing now.

    Unless you meant something else.

We need some food that increases skill gains lol.

I think there is a kind of curve in this game.

You start out basically at direct damage ~ skillgain for solo play. Then your damage to skill ratio goes down slowly solo while you level up, but you can compensate with more people in the party. A very wired way of SE to encourage (force) people to party up - again without explaining anything to the players.

Patch nerfed the bonus SP gain to only be for people within a 5 rank range of each other. There goes me grabbing another account for bazaar/tele/SP gain bonus. Oh well.

Megalocrab legs, at least for me as a miqote, give 3-4 dex and 40hp. At rank 22 LNC.

So we know for sure that solo is worse than partying, and the gain going from solo to duo is significant (possibly doubles the proc value). Does anyone have further data points on what the increases might be. The data in the thread so far fall just shy of actually a 100% increase and anecdotally, my own 4 person party within 5 ranks of each other last night only saw roughly double the value in procs.

    Thoughts?

My general observation is the higher your rank the lower your base sp is per action regardless of mob. Only way to boost SP gain is to form large parties where party bonus multiplies your base gain to an acceptable level. Seems SE is forcing you to party up after rank 25 to see respectable numbers but no one knows the party recruit function even exist.

I've also notice from melee that the dmg type vs mob gives better sp if done correctly like mnk on bones (blunt) or archer on flying mobs (piercing). Sp proc rate and base value seems to be highly exaggerated when these properties are exploited. I have no clue what mages benefit the most from, as I've only seen high base sp from puks or squarrels (generally anything squishy).

Been partying with some LS mates for the past 2 hours on Squirrels and Antelopes in Coerthas. Results are puzzling.

    LS Mate 1 - Rank 17 PUG - 3.8k / hour skill average
    LS Mate 2 - Rank 20 CON - 8.5k / hour skill average
    Me - Rank 19 MRD - 11.8k / hour skill average

    WTF? Anyone have any theories?

as THM and CON between 14 and 20 i was getting all the time over 12k/hr easy , 200-500 each mob.

today i got a party that we killed very fast but i would rarely see over 150 sp, most of the time less than 100. The leader said that the healer that was there before was getting 500 each mob.

something is very wrong with this system or we are too stupid to figure it out.

we probably spent a grand total of 2 hours spread over a 7 hour period wandering around looking for a better place to exp. finally the best for everyone ended up being by the Clearwater gate, SE of Camp Glory, killing Dreadwolfs and Antelope Does. The system is screwed up though. It almost feels like certain mobs favor certain people on a cycle that changes every hour, or something

I seriously wouldn't mind seeing all skill procs reduced dramatically, so long as some consistency were established.
