Exchanging Guildleves

If I'm trying to maximize my average gil / leve over the long run, how should I exchange my guildleves?

Option 1 - Always exchange exactly 1 guildleve when accepting a new one. This means that in theory every time you accept a new guildleve, you should be exchanging another one for it. You should never be accepting a guildleve without exchange.

Option 2 - Exchange as many guildleves as possible when accepting a single guildleve. You will shortly run out of guildleves to exchange, leaving you forced to accept some guildleves without exchanging them for anything.


In addition to choosing between option 1 / 2, there is another question. Which guildleves should I exchange when accepting new ones? For example, I go talk to the person in the adventurer guild, and she gives me a choice of like 4 guildleves. I have 8 to choose from that I can exchange. Is there a strategy that might lead to more gil / time? For example, maybe I should turn in the ones I completed on the highest difficulty levels in return for whichever available leve has the highest reward. This could be the case if, for example, bonus gil is determined by a percentage multiplier.

Anyone thought about any of these questions at all?

I only exchange when marks are available or I have no other option in which case I'll swap leves with the highest gil payout. I haven't really experimented to see if trading certain amounts net the same results, but I do know my fiancee has traded a leves in before and it didn't boost the reward (she was trading one at a time if this matters); I've always assumed that each one given paid out more than previous.

It's based on the rating of the stars. You can trade in up to 4.
I did a level 30 leve yesterday and traded in 3x 2 Star and 1x 1 Star and the reward jumped from 24k to 47.8k

0 Star = No Boost
1 Star = Small Boost
2 Star = Decent Boost
3 Star = Have yet to see...

Every star gives 10% boost to the gil or mark reward.

And what about when exchanging multiple leves? If I trade two 3-star leves for a single leve, does the reward increase by 60%?


Also, what is the number that appears to the right of the leve when exchanging it? I've only ever seen this be 0 or 1, even though I frequently do 3-4 star leves.

The number to the right is the star which im talking about. It has as far as i know nothing to do with the difficulty/star you do the leve at.
And yes the bonus is additive so exchanging four 2-star leves would give you a 80% bonus to gil/marks for example.

Hmm, so in that case I guess it begs the question - How do you get the number to the right of the leve name in the exchange menu to increase? I've never seen it higher than 1.

I notice the gil is boosted with the yellow text indicating that, but why is the item reward also shown in yellow text? Back in beta it made me think "Oh hey, if I trade in shit ill get a better version of this armor from the reward!"

That's what I kept trying to do, but the item reward has never changed. I think it just highlights the entire reward when anything in it changes...

The Stars thing has a simple explanation I think:

The Faction the Leve was done for. Each faction likes itself the best (2), some other Faction is ok (1) and the third faction they don´t like (0). This would explain the leves you turn in being different star values for different leves also.

That is an interesting theory, leves reset in an hour, should get some people to note there results. Shouldn't take too long to find out how the 3 factions relate to eachother. Also, since the Faction changes when you re-request a leve (ie. don't accept it and rechoose it) we should be able to test that theory by getting the same faction as your previous leve and checking the results next reset for confirmation.
