Kenji Imafune had a little bit to say about the state of testers in Japan in an interview a few weeks back; he said something that essentially mirrors that. I'll see if I can find it when I get home from work.
I don't disagree with you, if that truly is the state of how things are going over there. If your paid employees don't have the gusto to do the work properly, yet you have literally tens of thousands of passionate fans willing to do thrice the job for free, you absolutely have to change the way you handle the issue.
Yeah, that would be a good read if you can dig it up.
Not to mention Japan is not big as far as MMO's go, so they may just be inexperienced. That doesn't excuse every issue but some of them.
It's just fucking sad that they can't communicate in English. Makes "working" for them probably a mess. Something like.. testers play the game in London, translators translate the info, get sent to Japan, devs read it, repeat.
Tanaka could be responsible for the early launch. I guess it is all speculation on what happened behind SE doors, but he would certainly take the blame in any case.
Do any mods actually read these forums?that's the basic idea. for the most part shit flame posts will get move to here as well.
Producers handle the schedules and budgets, iirc. He's such an obvious target for this mess.
Yes, the alpha and beta phases could have been much better. But again, what are the main reasons people don't want to play 14 again? Initially, it was the poor UI and simple things like not being able to sort your inventory. Basically early on that was the gyst of most complaints. At this point the game is quite playable, I mean I didn't like it but for someone used to playing with an interface similar to 11, I didn't have too much trouble there. My main issue is the game is just not fun to play. The game is equivalent to a life like mannequin. It looks nice/realistic, but it doesn't interact.
I wrote a really long post then realized I could make my points much more quickly.
1. If I want to look at a world just for the sake of looking at it, not looking at it along with new quests/gameplay aspects opening up, I will go hiking in real life.
2. If I want the storyline that 14 promises to deliver, if nothing else, then I can just read a real novel.
3. If I want to play a game that is fun to play and has all the aspects of a game tied together nicely (interace/gameplay/story), I will play a real video game.
Until 14 can improve 3 to the point that 1 and 2 are moot points, I'm out, and evidently I'm far from the only one.
Book is not really the same thing as an interactive game is. Especially if they do what is most important at this point...
..Boost the social aspect, for both the stories and the normal gameplay. MMO's are not good video games, but the co-op is usually enjoyable. Also hard to get it from somewhere else, which is too bad.
You're right a book is not an interactive game. A story is a story though.
That is why I broke it down to say that until the total package of the game is better than a decent but spread out storyline and pretty repetitive trees, I'll continue to bow out of this interactive online experience. At least until it becomes interactive and not just getting experience.
Siatdiat and Hyan (and Lucavi) are having three flamewar arguments at the same time in all the main three ffxiv discussion boards. Stop spreading this bullshit and keep it in this thread.
Although I think the shit already ended, I don't care.
You always make forum behaviour such a science. Those threads will be forgotten in a day and don't even provide much content for on-topic discussion in the first place. Who the hell cares what happens? Except you, of course.
Siatdiat is the one on a little troll-spree in the XIV section today though. Blame him!
I can agree with the notion I might be the only one who cares, at least out of people who post. But there is also a striking coincidence that this forum is 50-75% shit. With no janitors.
EDIT: People who answer trolls are just as bad as trolls in the long run.
Thats because nobody plays this game. Go figure. I've talked to 2 mods in the section over the past month or so, and they both say the same thing:
"When there's shit to mod, we'll mod."
In the meantime, I don't care if you backseat mod or not, but your one-man crusade to police the forum like Team America isn't exactly helping anything. Then again, what is there to help. The game is on life support at this point.
Try this around PS3 launch and you'll probably garner more sympathy. Then again, shit might stay on topic because there's actually shit to talk about with more than 3 people.
I know what you mean Riposte, but I don't really care enough. For 'more important' threads though, I'll just take it here.
Riposte, are you the same BRP from Calamity?
Yeah
EDIT:
Little more needs to be said at how terrible they are. Then again, those probably weren't the mods especially assigned to modding the FFXIV forum. Who the fuck knows happen to those guys.
EDIT: Also why do we still have an Advanced and Standard forum if there is absolutely no standard of post moderating going down?
