Indeed. Why cater to the incredibly small percentage of rank50s when the vast majority of your player is probably in the 20-35 range? I'm not really complaining though, just genuinely wondering that. At least it keeps the high ranks from blowing their brains out for like, what, a week? Wasn't even a worthwhile addition. Very weaksauce.
It's the same old excuse "Oh, dont you remember how FFXI was in the begining, you gotta give them a year or so to release content because NA release was year after JP one." That was 10 years ago lets get over it.
I want to be entertained while leveling now, not in one year. I dint pay for collectors edition to have content for lvl 20+ in a year and neither did anyone else in their right mind.
Except that everyone sane who played or plays FFXIV isn't going into menopause about reaching endgame. It's not a light because there's nothing there.
Yes, something like that. Wherein you thought you wanting something from a game that the game wasn't even trying to give you was a problem with the game. "This Pac-Man console doesn't have any guns?! WTF, Pac-Man?!"
Not falling for it this time broski.
Great. Hopefully I do the same next time you post about OMG I CAN'T REACH ENDGAME AS FAST AS I WANT WTF VIDEOGAME!!!
You are seriously the king of misinterpretation.
At this point you're just harassing me.
I think this december patch is the reason the dev team was replaced. This patch had surely been in the works since at least a month, and once they saw it themselves, or let their focus groups evaluate it, they saw how much of a disaster it would had been to consider it a miracle patch.
The fact the new team announcement came after the first december update notices makes me feel they too consider this latest patch as crap.
To me it looks like if the Nov. patch is what they can get done in 2 months this (+ the other Dec. patch) should be about half the size of the Nov. patch. If they keep doing this every few weeks/month instead of 2-3 months I doubt we'll see much more done than this per patch.. if they don't decide hold the rest of the content+new UI off until March, if so that patch would be the next significant one.
But yeah, for a content patch this one is reaally pathetic. They should have started working on them "battle content" and hamlet's sooner, but LOLTANAKA I guess.
The arguments about game management or what's accountable for bad game design were mildly entertaining, at least. This thread lost its bite.
Even the trolls have devolved into arguing what the acceptable level of bitching about this pile of shit is lol Grinding too fast in an MMO? Come on dude, quit drinking that SE koolaid, this game is anything but casual-friendly. Shit is on some Lineage torture-levels with imposed time limits. The least they could do is throw a bone and make mob grind viable, and how about some actual party mechanics?
I forgot, these kind of game-breaking MMO concepts require a year to develop. My bad.
Yeah, I actually don't think the game is very good. I'm just saying that OMFG I CAN'T RUSH TO CAP AS FAST AS I THINK IS ACCEPTABLE isn't a good or even valid argument.
Try to argue with what people are actually saying and not what you hope against hope you think they're saying so you can come up with a good line to punk them. Tip for the future, is all.
And no one made that argument. You are implying that I am making that argument, which I keep telling you I am not, but you refuse to acknowledge that. And now, due to your incompetent persistence, you have been labeled a troll.
That is not a very good thing around these parts, mind you.
You're reaching. It was never about wanting to hit max cap first. It was about wanting to get grinding over with because its so utterly boring that you'd hope that the end-game would be more exciting.
Personally, I think both angles are wrong. I'd say that if a game's early/mid game is so bad that you're rushing to cap simply to avoid the ardors of having to grind anymore, you should probably just quit for awhile. You're not going to be happy push-grinding to cap to avoid grinding (especially when you need to level up your other classes for well-roundedness), and you certainly aren't going to be happy once you get to max level, breathe a sigh of relief, and find out that there's shit all to do at the top.
I'm pretty sure most people stuck with option 3, which is why the place is abandoned outside of crafters. I try to play here and there, at least 3 times a week, but the shit is boring if LSmates aren't on (as a conj) and I really don't feel like carrying around a physical DD set as I'm currently at 85/100 when not counting trash drops that I just log in, check the LS list, and log out.
At any given time, I know that:
1) The "amazing FF community" will not talk outside of LS.
2) The "amazing FF community" will not team up with strangers unless its a behest.
3) The "amazing FF community" typically will not help another with leves once they finish their own.
This game begs for pet jobs if its going to be all about grinding shit out alone because nobody else is around or willing to team up.
Pretty much. Unless it's after midnight, I have 2-3 hours free, and I've got nothing going on the next morning, I don't log into this game to grind to the cap. I know it's not worth it and I am not gonna lose any sleep over it. The grind is utterly ridiculous, well beyond the worst grinder I've tried. That's just how it is, but I also know there isn't anything to do at rank 50 that makes rushing there some kind of goals worth achieving. The rank 50s in my guild all just craft too.
The game is currently in a state that there are so few guilds, if any, with enough 50s to do stuff as a single unit, so there is a lot of outsourcing. And then the rest can't catch up reliably because of all the SP limitations put in place. You can't even come close to the exp/hr doing behests/leves that you could prior to the November patch. Also, all that travel involved to get just a fraction of that exp/hr is very tiresome (plus anima cost, don't forget that!) Anyone that claims all this is otherwise is trolling you. Furthermore, anyone that argues this entire paragraph is bullshit is also trolling you (or me, as it were).
All I'm saying is that if someone promises to sell me tomatoes when I show up I want tomatoes ready to go not a bag of seeds and a promise that few months down the road they gonna grow to be really delicious.
And all I'm saying is that SE never did that with XI until years after launch, so its no surprise that they haven't done it now. Stay the course, SE.
That's why there are other companies out there with other games. Can't wait for Rift; I want something fresh and polished.
There's also Tera next year, possibly SW:TOR, depending on how that goes...
Really, too many titles to look forward to MMO-wise to be worrying about this little game. I respect those that find enjoyment or "challenge" in this game, I just can't help but feel they have really low expectations and standards for games within this genre, especially if it's based off XI and XIV experience alone.
Exactly, this has basically been my mantra since beta. These upcoming MMOs next year are looking to EVOLVE, while FFXIV is trying to accomplish nothing but put a new coat of paint on a dead horse.
Expecting GW2 to revolutionize the MMO genre is more plausible right now than expecting this game to be anything but another generic MMO with an incompetent company butting heads with its own damn game community.
I've just recently looked into Rift and TERA due to the failure of this game and I've gotta tell you it's very impressive when you look through their sites. The content they planning to launch with seems to be extensive and they not afraid to share info with potential customers.
