FFXIV Flame Wars Thread: because ten threads is not enough threads

Yeah, I found out about behests already... most of the time I'm at a camp on the hour.
The main issue I have now is that all classes except DoL seem to have some sort of method for speeding up their leveling dramatically. Leves/Behests for DoW and DoM, then the local leves for DoH but I honestly didn't see much improvement (even with Guardian's Favor) when I did a leve on Miner, just doesn't seem worth the loss of a good leve for my Gladiator.

Is there something that I'm missing?

So, in essence, pretty graphics trump all in his mind. Good for him. If only the rest of the ex-XIVers felt that way. I guess he can single-handedly bankroll SE's coffers when it comes time for the company to try to actually make some money off of XIV, though, so that's cool.

What I found most interesting is that Yosuke Saito, Executive Producer at Square Enix, picked Cata. Apparently nots not too EZ mode for him, which is good.

I thought surplus was just supposed to "punish the hardcores who grind one class all day" I've taken 2 days off from the game since I started (which was Wednesday afternoon), and I've done a fair bit of crafting.
Hell, I don't even do many leves on gladiator (been doing them on miner for the most part since leveling it normally is just a pain in the ass, even though I recognize that the SP gain from these leves would LIKELY mean I'd be best served using them for my battle classes)... I just do behest whenever I can and I've already hit surplus sword and shield.

If you look at my lodestone page, you can see that since I've started... I've spent time on a number of jobs (though I've spent more time on Gladiator than the others.)

You've probably got surplus on physical EXP, which will happen regardless of the job you're on. I doubt you're getting job surplus right now. Although, if you are, it's probably for the same reason people got mad surplus in P3 beta, because they adjusted how much SP you get from 1-20, but didn't adjust the rate of surplus gain for everything.

Nah, it's sword and shield... the game tells you which stuff you're getting surplus on, remember?

EDIT: There's also the fact that shield hit it first and then I saw the two of them gaining dissimilar amounts of SP, so I knew for sure that I'd hit surplus... no doubt about it.

Nah, you definitly get first surplus around 18 (roughly 80-90k SP), Physical surplus happens after 900k XP

And yeah, been hitting shield surplus faster than my main job, despite them getting the same SP.

If you start from the bottom of rank-1, you'll hit your first surplus about a fourth or a third of your way through rank-17.

If you start from the bottom of rank 10, you'll hit surplus about halfway through rank 19.

If you cancel your sub like most people with common sense, you'll never hit surplus. I found a way to beat the system!

I haven't hit surplus once with the new system and I barely did with the old system. Not supporting it just saying wtf are you guys doing to hit it..

Well I was not in fatigue at 7est last night, then we did 7 awesome leves with 3+ links each (35k sp) and then proceeded to grind for 4h for another 50k. I was easily in fatigue after all that. It happens if you figure out how to actually play the game efficiently and effectively. Fatigue isn't too hard to hit. Over the past ten days I've gone from rank32 to 20k short of 41. The vast majority of that time was spent in fatigue.

My group took break over new years and when we came back we had 120 favor each. The first day back we got 65-70k of our leves and the next day 40k I think and all of us hit fatigue. Yesterday I got 45k and I was in fatigue and we got unlucky on leves... I honestly dont know how people avoid hitting fatigue nowdays unless you solo all your leves.

I did 1 round of leves with my group and hit fatigue same day as when it reset... Making this grind 40+ hard as hell. lol

I don't know how you DON'T hit fatigue. It's a pain in the ass. Behest is an easy 3-4k(maybe even more sometimes) sp every hour if you have a good sized group. Do your leves and a bit of grinding(I farm mats that no one sells/dont' want to buy instead) between behest and I hit in 2-3 days easy.

Solo, you're probably not going to hit fatigue after Rank-20. Before rank-20, you're enjoying the progress and speed of things as you have plenty of new spells and abilities becoming available, and you'll keep going. Without a group, you're brain will melt before you hit fatigue if you're just grinding on blue Dodos once you're in the 20s.
