Yeah, a team game where you have to get past all the bullshit to actually get to the "main" team content. I salute everyone who has managed to get there with the way the grind is set up before it.

But on the other hand, some people like the shitty gameplay as is. I'm actually a bit jealous.

    @FFXI comments
    What is this...I dont even...
I had a lot of friends, none were interested in story missions. It was virtuallly impossible on my server to find group for bastok S missions after the first two night. I could have done what I always did in the past, pressuring people into doing them (of course i was helping) until they reach the current missions, but I said fuck it and quit instead.
You could have played the game like WoW instead- fuck story, loot ftw.

And you still havent told me why FFXIV destroy RMT.

I see what's going on here. How about this: SE wants to combat RMT/exploiters with these systems.

Oh, looks like he changed his question to fit his argument once again.

The whole fucking game is based on countering RMT

@Hyan. Not my fault if you edit your post after I quote them

And lol, the question never changed. They all meant the same shit.
Unestablished economy makes RMT's work harder. Fatigue caps on gathering make it harder for bots to function, as well as the minigames that come with them. Everything gets checked server side, making it even harder to make illegal tools for the game that can't be detected. Even shit like 8 guildleve limit is there to limit bots from abusing it.
Unestablished economy? Wtf is that. Every new mmo goes goes through this, and it doesnt stop rmt from farming money in any way. In fact, it's probably easier to take advantage of the market with an unestablished economy..

The minigame are bot-able, you're retarded to think otherwise. Just like the fishing minigame in FFXI, bot will even have additional advantage over the average players who actually have to pay attention.

UI getting checked on the server doesn't stop you from reading memory and inputting command. It might be more coding at first, but in the end, it will become harder to detect. I find it quite funny to see you parrot the comments posted a while ago, when that part was plain wrong.

The fatigue system...I will give you that. The game being designed around this however is an overstatement. Beside, there is no limit to how much money you could make from crafting and farming material through conventional mean, so your point is kinda moot.

You could have played the game like WoW instead- fuck story, loot ftw.
Online FF are way more "loot oriented" than WoW will ever be. You should know that WoW outdate all your "hard" works every 3-6 months. That's why you play to beat the contents, get titles, and get achievements instead. You can see loot as a trophy, but that's not what the game is about.

And seriously, while the story might be more interesting for us in FF game , the "level grind" in WoW is replaced with a bunch of quest that tell a story that change the world around you (you learn some backstory, story npc get involved, the environment change as you help them). It's different from the conventional story telling used FFXI/XIV, but don't act like it's non existant.

Yeah, except I never said anything about XIV destroying economy or that all the countermeasures will work- I said the whole game is designed around countering RMT and that SE has a strong stance on the RMT in this game- and it has nothing to do with your delusions thinking I said something else.

Unestablished economy? Wtf is that. Every new mmo goes goes through this, and it doesnt stop rmt from farming money in any way. In fact, it's probably easier to take advantage of the market with an unestablished economy..
Yet it is harder for them to make a monopoly with the way things are now.

But harder to bot, which is the fucking point. You are having an argument with yourself here, did you know that?

See the above comment, and get some help.

So instead of obtaining something concrete, you play the game to get titles and achievements. L o l.

I didn't know that retarded shit from consoles had made it to MMO's already... or that the whole games are based around that design. Epic.

I'm not. But it clearly is not given the emphasis in WoW, and if it is, lol.

"No it's just different". Yeah, XIV's UI is "different" too.

It's harder to monopolize what? The game is devoid of any content. I wouldn't consider this a method to counter rmt. And if your only issue is rmt monopolization of NM, you should have said so, because that's completely different.

If the game involved no money or something...then maybe you could make an argument that they designed the game to stop rmt, but RMT are already presents, and they won't leave.

But harder to bot, which is the fucking point. You are having an argument with yourself here, did you know that?
It's harder to program a bot, but once it's done, it will works forever. It would take two weeks to code that kind of shit, instead of a few days....It won't make a freaking difference in the end. I know you're computer illiterate, but try not being so freaking dense for once.

I'm not. But it clearly is not given the emphasis in WoW, and if it is, lol.

"No it's just different". Yeah, XIV's UI is "different" too.
You havent played Cataclysm or Wrath it seem.

Arguing with you about WoW is pointless, you quit at lv 30 five years ago. If you had a point back then, you should set your time machine to 2010, because the game changed.

Holy shit the fucking black knights were very active this weekend. So much to refute in the past few pages but going to start with this quote for now.

Kaylia your clearly a wow drone, I think I understand why you bash ffxiv so hard now. Story in wow is nothing more than finding the yellow exclamation point run to kill this/deliver that go back spam enter get exp. And maybe if your lucky you finished a bunch of quests at once so you can hit lots of exclamation points. I promise you nobody is reading the fucking "story" the npcs are telling.

Also I'm not bashing wow. Questing is great at what's its designed to do. But that is not telling a story.

Do you know there is a lot of cutscene events in Cataclysm? Even if you skip text, you should get the gist of the story. If you actually read the text, you will get the lore that goes with it.

With the large amount of minigame to catch your attention, the "vision", and the events quests, you would have to make an effort to pretend its just yellow exclamation point. It's not like you will ever escape fetching quest completely, cataclysm just doesnt feel like this anymore (I know you are trolling, but it's even more involving than icecrown and hodir quest line)

This isn't true currently. Right now I'm pretty sure rmt have a monopoly on the high end items on my server. There is a family of Bomb characters pretty much running a few crafts. The difference between ffxi and ffxiv though as far as rmt are concerned though is that SE made ffxiv like wow in that gil is worthless so who cares about rmt.

Cool story, except Cata isn't released yet? Your argument is that a game that was devoid of storyline for several years is ok now because it will finally have some in a future expansion? Story in ffxiv is already better than hodir quest line and I'm only 5 missions in. (I did like icecrown though)

I don't speak for all the "black knights" but i sure as fuck will come on here and shit up a thread that was made to be full of shit in the first place, if just to get one douche nozel to see the harm he does to the Final Fantasy name by continuing to play/pay for this bullshit of a game.

You ENCOURGE SE to bend their consumers over and take it, by failing to DISCOURGE them. You continue to play along, crafting 14 things in a 55minute fucking period and are fine with that, because you haven't any decent fucking values about the way a game like FF14 should be.
What's even worse! YOU do know how FF14 should be, but will continue to play and "hope" that it get's to that point. Guess what, you setup FF17 for a massive fucking repeat because as it stands, SE may be concerned with the number of people jumping ship, but if their bottom line isn't affected, they'll consider players like me "acceptable losses".

And i'm not gonna toot my own horn here, but i'm fucking a blast to play video games with. I am funnie, and random, and helpful and fair, and really do enjoy the multitude of friendships that i've developed in MMO's, and was excited to make some new ones in FF14.
I don't consider myself an "acceptable loss", and SE shouldn't either, but guess what?

They still haven't put a god damn search feature in your shitty ass game.

Anyone who can't stand up, look at what SE sold us, and say "god damn, i've been had, they won't get any more money from me, that's for fucking sure!" is a moron with much bigger problems than bitching about the opposition in a flame war.
Keep running the series into the ground by allowing SE to make horrible descisions.

It's people like this that will get into an abusive relationship and when told to quit/leave/escape, will defend the person that's beating them.
People who play FF14 = Stupid people who let others walk on them because they're trying to be "honorable/nice/loving"
SE = That dude who just fucked your best friend, came home drunk and bloodied your nose, and woke up the next morning and swore he was sorry and he'll never do it again, even though this is the 5th time he's done it.

Shit is pathetic and honestly the sooner we can get SE to sell off the rights to FF, the sooner we as fanboys/girls will be better off.

    Spoiler: show
Casual player, you are THE most gulliable fucking fag in all of the land.

    *ahem* discuss.
Obvious troll attempt from Shepardfag but wow. Is this really one of the people who flamed me for grammar earlier? ENCOURGE?!?!...........DISCOURGE!!!

Maybe that spelling is some form of retard Latin only he and his buddy Doooom can understand.

P.S. Just to be clear Shepard and Doooom I think your both retards.

I played through cata beta completely, and the release is fairly soon (1 month away). That's why I'm using it in the argument.

If you want a j-rpg story, then FFXIV is undoubtedly better. What I'm saying is that WoW also have enjoyable "storytelling" contents with the new questline. If you liked icc, you will probably enjoy leveling to 85 because most area follow similar patterns (you fight your way through the zone as you learn the story, and everything culminate into a dungeon).

In previous expansion, I would hunt yellow exclamation point for xp/money/achievement, but in cataclysm, I actually want to see what will happens at the end of the quest line. Is it perfect yet? No. But it is more involving than before for sure.

In FF, while the story is great, the chapter are way too rare and sparse. What make it worse is that when one quest is over, you're back to your empty world for more grinding. The contrast is harsh, and make the rest of the game even more of a chore. If they had managed to integrate these quest to the xp grind, people would like the games a lot more.

Actually somewhat agree with a couple of your points. Storyline being broken up the way it is isn't the best form of storytelling and probably would've improved from immersion into general gameplay.
Having said that when SE made a game that stripped everything away but the storyline people complained. (I'm talking about FFXIII)

But story is story to me doesn't matter if its jrpg wrpg a good story is a good story. My point wasn't about that. Wow has been out for 6 yrs with basically no story at all. Ffxi had some great stories (even zilart was decent) where wow is just now releasing a game with story. Ffxiv has been out for 1 Mon. and already has a heavy emphasis on the storyline.

You strike me as someone who really enjoys wow and was going to play cata regardless of how ffxiv played at release. While I think some of your opinions are valid most seem to be heavily biased towards blizzard and completely irrational as far as the scope and design of ffxiv.

You seem to be more concerned with ensuring that people cancel their ffxiv subs (maybe so they'll join u in cata?) than anything else. I mean what other reason do you have to continue to post about a game you are so dissatisfied with?

Yes, in my opinion in an MMO the content should be in the open world, not in an instance. Otherwise the game may as well not be an MMO at all. Just instance the whole thing. Makes things that much more convenient too.

There have been quite a bit of proper alternatives popping up lately such as phasing in WoW and now in XIV which remove some of the bad sides of non-instanced content.

The right answer is not to instance everything, but to provide a solution that gives people the advantages of an instance without removing the open world-factor that is crucial for an MMORPG.

Instances shouldn't be the final answer to the problem. But developers and players act like this is the case. I don't agree.

If this is too abstract of an idea to grasp, feel free to blacklist me. A good riddance.

you do realized that phasing requires instancing your character into different layouts, right?

or do you not understand what an instance is?
