Actually it doesn't really accomplish anything other than demean and negatively agitate the community. If you want to stop disruptive behavior you use warnings and bans. For one you can see the same discussion found here in other threads(just follow around Kaylia and crew), but even if it stopped, it wouldn't be because of this thread. Best choice would to close this thread and take away access of the forum from people(e.g. Kaylia and crew) who are only contributing anti-FFXIV discussion. There are enough jaded players to fill that role. Ultimately there is only a small amount of room for anti-FFXIV discussion in a forum dedicated to exploring the entirety of FFXIV.
EDIT: Actually Lorendor or w/e a 100 years before Kaylia. Kaylia isn't a clueless retard, just uppity.
EDIT: "Exploring the entirety of FFXIV" - that is assuming there is ever some organization added here.
Fair enough.
I'd still leave this thread open though, and I'm sure the warnings/bans (and eventually loss of access to the section) will come sooner or later (and should) to whoever isn't restricting their anti-FFXIV rhetoric to this or the random complaint thread.
@BRP
Sure, you could ban me, but it wont change anything about the negativity you see everywhere on tihs board. Beside, I'm barely posting anything bad outside this thread.
Handing out mass bans and cutting off access to tons of people would just cause an uproar of a different type, shit's dumb. FFXIV sucks, no reason not to discuss why it sucks.
No reason NOT to make fun of it in a thread called flame wars either.
Fuck the whole "smiles and sunshine" bullshit BRP and others are trying to push, the game is utter garbage.
I approve of mass bannings if it means I get to ban brp first.
Until then, I agree 100% with domon.
What's with the whole backseat modding thing going on in this page? This isn't a thread for constructiveness; its a threat devoted to calling a spade a spade. Glad to see the mods understand that.
Edit: Leaving this here. http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/1...-player-trust/
I'm not commenting on it one way or another because I take all "articles" from this site with a grain of salt, especially the misleading title, claiming that the game is a "disaster", when Wada said nothing of the sort. It fits in this thread, though.
As for the purpose of this thread, that was the whole point, it doesn't really serve a purpose other than being an ugly topic(sticked above the useful topics). The random complaint thread serves all the necessities, even the rant urges. (And yet despite the similarities, they are in two different subforums. Flame wars are more advanced.) If the element this thread is trying to contain has no place in the forum and this thread has no use, there is no reason for it exist. Just wipe out the element, which is more effective in any case. Trolls, non-playing haters, white knights, or derailling arguments altogether, whatever it may be most disruptive. A.k.a. Moderate.
Also removing not meaning banning but restricting forum access. There is no reason why anyone should get banned over not liking a game.
Though when looking at the bigger picture, the FFXIV forum seems like it is in no rush to affirm any purpose to begin with(after the sharp fall of hype which was apparently the excuse on why it sucked before). I wonder how much of the administration simply doesn't care about what happens with the forum because of how lackluster they might find the topic. I know that to be true in at least one or two cases from personal interaction.
With moderation, I could see negative themed threads working fine. Like aside the random complaint thread could be a backlash thread. Sankakucomplex/tabloids would find itself home there.
EDIT: Also since it got deleted from the random complaint thread(fairly), I want to repeat the notion "the core game is flawed" or something like that is rather meaningless phrase. Especially in the context of MMOs which are not limited to small updates(so you can't just magically make up a group you call "core mechanics", which is just stuff that takes too much budget to change).
This thread only serves the purpose of entertainment for those who get off on baiting those who like a game they hate into arguing. Any discussion/disagreement/debate with them is met with foaming mouths and fallacies.
Man I don't believe that article especially anything posted by that site. SE probably thinks those basic fixes in the nov patch will bring people back.
I wonder if Tanaka will get sacked over all of this negative press. It mostly his failure, as a producer. However it is a Japanese studio and he has been there a long time. But on the other hand SE has the poorest turnover rate and Wada has shown his interest in replacing the old guys with new, young people.

Has this been posted yet? Might be very old. Hilarious though.A while back, I posted a translation of Square Enix's Stories of EORZEA page, and gave a look at the initial entries for six Japanese writers. The idea was that these contributers would bring their adventures to life in blog form. Ideally, their entires would show how a wide variety of people could all find something in Eorzea to enjoy. Unfortunately, the Lodestone site recently activated a History and Achievements feature, and as FFXIVBlog.com reports, Japanese players quickly sensed something was amiss.
Yeah that was already mentioned in either another thread or this one a few pages back.

And what's that supposed to even mean? Every single game is released unfinished, yet becomes successful over-time? I'm just saying if they won't get rid of this guy (yet) it's because of this. XI was hardly in a "satisfactory condition" when it came out, they even extended the free month just like here.
Negative press or not, I don't see why they wouldn't give him a second chance this time around too.
I honestly don't think the game is redeemable unless the entire core, from UI to combat mechanics, are completely redone. I don't see that happening.
SE doesn't seem to want to put the resources into the day to day things such as story quests, intriguing group instances, and fun combat.
Instead they focus too much on one big main story arch and think we're content with nothing but grind in between.
That simply doesn't work for MMO's when 90% of your time is spent on the day to day "fluff".
