Couldn't agree more, blizzard actually looks at what their players say and DPS logs. I doubt a single person that works for SE actually plays 14 casually. Not to make this another blizzard vs SE thread. But there's an obvious reason that one brings home the bread while the other only creates "26 million dollar rage quits" lul

also at the guy a few pages back saying that 11 is the best game ever.

i completely disagree, you're settling for reskinned zones with reskinned mobs in a game that's nowhere near difficult to play or has anything difficult about it. the social factor on ff11 was the greatest of any game i've ever played and was very well set up. but other than that, i seriously regret playing it

System graphical settings and the like are complety different than the server lag issue.

And they can both contribute to the menu lag.

Had a random thought and didnt know where to put it, anybody play SWG from launch to the introduction of Jedis? The game is eerily similar to XIV, you could mix/match professions, including crafting/mining ones, economy was based entirely around peoples storefronts (if memory serves there was no AH). OFC game was alot more polished than this nonsense.

I don't disagree with the entire thing, but Jesus Christ... the entire first half was him just verbalizing the average moron's thought process in any RPG.

Remarks about going and killing lolrats for his first quest... Is this the first time he's played an RPG? Little, shitty rodents are almost a tradition.

I also love how he keeps on repeatedly mashing the attack button when it's obvious you can only do one at a time, then bitches about how they should remove the sound it makes when he keeps mashing the button for no reason. A retard with a horrible soul patch.

I love how he copypastas his old videos while criticizing SE for copypasta'ing. That said, the old video was pretty funny.

Aside from the fact that he looks like he got caught in a timewarp from 1998, he seems like he's trying too hard to be nice. I guess it's a good thing though trying to be "fair". I almost wish he'd just totally take the gloves off.

as said i said in a previous thread, most people playing games don't have a PHD in video game playing. you calling him a mouth breathing idiot when it comes to a mmorpg is kinda... silly?

all things aside though if you hadn't played ff11 or read up on features of the game I could see lots of people making the same mistakes. I mean who would think that you can't jump, can't go down small ledges in a game?

I could imagine him doing the same video with FFXII, mashing X, repeatedly hitting Attack, wondering why it wasn't doing anything, while simultaneously bitching about fighting rats. Hunts? Marks? Nothing is called what you think it should be!

Lol? Deal with it, things change and that's what the market is now. You can adapt and succeed or try to stick to the status quo from 2002 like SE did and become the laughingstock of the MMORPG community. Face it, FFXIV is a very simple and basic game compared to the other MMORPGs that it's attempting to compete with.

Funny, I have been meaning to post something similar for a while now. The similarities are pretty eerie actually.

The job system was pretty much the same except you were limited to set number of skills. If you were at the cap you could unlearn a skill from another profession but you would have to grind it again if wanted to relearn it.

Crafting and gathering weren't mini games but materials came in qualities that would let you make higher quality finished products including the crafting tools themselves.

As you mentioned there was a focus on bazaars but there were both auction houses and central storage for items. The bazaar npcs were identical in form to retainers they even had the same buy/sell function as in XIV. The biggest difference was that you could only set them up in your house or guild (don't think they were called guilds but can't remember for the life of me).

The combat was identical. Stamina bar + timers and a command queue. SWG had a nice little window that would show you what commands were queued however. You could also click on a queued command to cancel it.

Both have massive and empty worlds that from time to time rewarded exploration with a cool sight or two. The only way to travel was on foot in SWG, so kind of like you ran out of anima..

Leve and mission terminals are identical in function and nearly so in form. Take a mission, mobs pop in an area, kill them etc. Biggest difference was of course that you could take as many missions per day as you wanted. Each terminal was at a base and each base set the difficulty level for the missions available. The map marker looked just like an aetherial node, but red. Just before I quit something called solo grouping got popular. The terminals would scale the missions based on group size so you would group while taking the missions then disband. I mention this because apparently XIV skill gain is also group scaled, that is you can boost your skill gains by grouping with afk people.

They probably had about the same number of working quest. SWG had hundreds but only a few dozen actually worked.

But the biggest similarity, and what got me thinking about this, are the forums. SWG had a lot of problems. For its time it was very "pretty", it also had amazing sound due to their access to entire Star Wars library. It was immersive. A lot of people complained on the forums however. There were issues with mob placement and travel time and bugged mission mobs etc.. normal stuff I guess. But the white knight brigade always had the same reply.. it's SONY, it's LUCAS ARTS there is no way these things wont get fixed.. it's unpossible!
Well it wasn't. After a month or 2 when people had hit max skills there was just nothing to do. And things didn't get fixed, instead they released an payed expansion. Servers went from max capacity to very low. Even the people that didn't cancel just didn't log on.

I really hope XIV doesn't imitate SWG to the end.
