Elrina, learn to love the k.i.s.s a acronym. Keep it simple stupid.I want to play FFXIV. I want to believe it can and will be a good game. I want to believe SE can and will make it a good game. I don't mind bitching, I've done plenty of it myself. I don't mind complaining, I've done that too. There's still plenty reason for it till stuff is actually changed, and there are still issues that haven't been directly addressed yet, even though most of them have. But if you can't at least agree with those first three sentiments, then you have nothing worthwhile to contribute in this section, even in the flame thread.
This. In conjunction with the sweet sweet news of a delayed update makes me lol, then I remember I have like 87 fun new things to do in FFXI, and I realize I could give two shits about 14's constant state of fail. Enjoy your game folks, to bad it will "suck" a little longer
Work on Magain Dagger
Work on Store TP polearm
Finish Corsair,Dancer,Dragoon,Thf,Rdm,War AF3 +1
Finish getting my friend his emperyean so we can start the next 2-3
Work on my BLU AF gear (was level 40ish about 2 weeks ago, it's 65 now)
Finish working on my Rng TrueFlight + Holy bolt build
Not play FFXIV
have you even fucking looked at 11 in the last 6 months? I mean fucking seriously?
Oh, and Heroes of Abyssea (which looks fucking sick) right around the corner.
that translates to:
Magian Trials
Magian Trials
Repeat Abyssea NMs
Magian Trials
Do 2 quests
Repeat Abyssea NMs
Roffle.
Calling magian trials "fun new." I shall continue to scoff. I'm not arguing with your view on XIV because I don't give a shit about that tired crap. Calling that faux content that is XI now fun and new makes me laugh.
It is tempting, however.
Eh, I often have a problem being concise. Especially when I've got something on my mind, I tend to think it out as I write or say it.
Anyway, we'll see how it all goes. Tentatively optimistic despite the update delay, and looking forward to reading the detailed notes about the December update. Hopefully the game will stop being bad soon. Going to go read Shadowmarch now and pretend XIV (and subsequently this section) doesn't exist for a couple weeks.
@ Hyan: It's not.
Really going to pull this crap? So grinding on monsters and pumping out the same guildleves over and over again is entirely different than doing magian trials and what not? More importantly: Wouldn't you be defending the same XI activities against something like WoW had XIV not come out?
Prettier graphics; they make all the difference. That and the self-justification that has to follow the realization that a lot of money was spent for a game that consists of either grinding leves or grinding crafts.
Wtf.
There's an interview conducted by a Finnish gaming site about XIV..
I'll translate it.
SE = Tanaka and Keiki Usui (Sundi)
Dome: What do you feel are the biggest problems in the game right now and how are you going to solve them?
SE: Right now we feel there are three larger problems. First of all there's the User Interface. We are redesigning the entire UI from the scratch, but it will take some time. That's why we're going to fix two smaller problems during this year in the meantime.
Problems with performance and lag are a high priority for us right now, and we are going to address them in the upcoming patches. The second problem has to do with groups and the classes. At the moment the game mechanics don't encourage players to build groups, because playing alone is fine(wat) and there are no distinctive differences between the classes. We are going to offer our players content designed for groups, as well as new abilities for the classes to enhance their individuality and compatibility.
Dome: Sounds good. I played XI for half a year in the past, and the game was quite hostile for someone wanting to play alone. Did you try to break away from this trend with the emphasis on solo in XIV?
SE: That's exactly what happened. We took the critique seriously, but it seems we overdid the solo aspect in XIV. This was a hard, yet very important lesson for us, and we intend to learn from it.
Dome: But there will still be solo content for players?
SE: Yes. While creating XIV we tried to make the game more easily approachable than XI but our new and innovative marketplace- and craftingsystems were too complicated and deceived players. Right now we are trying to streamline the problems and offer content for all types of gamers.
Dome: FFXI was released on PS2 first and later on PC, and the controls reflected this. What happened to XIV, if you need to redo the entire UI?
SE: Our initial plan was to release both versions of the game simultaneously, but due to PS3 limitations (:D) this was not possible and the PC version was released first. The focus was to make the UI familiar for FFXI's console audience, but when those playing with normal PC controls wanted to try it, it must have been quite a shock for them.
Dome: ...So how are you going to fix it?
SE: The solution is simple, but time-demanding. The current control scheme works fine for console gamers, but on the PC the whole UI has to be redone from the scratch. Additionally these two separate interfaces need to be balanced.
Dome: Many recent MMO games have been released unfinished, but you have taken a more open approach to the game's problems. You have also extended the free trial twice now, something that for example AoC and WAR would have needed. Why did you end up doing this?
SE: Based on the feedback received from players and our own experiences we came to the conclusion that the game is simply not ready yet. We have made mistakes, but we are fully committed to make up for them and make sure that XIV is going to live up to its expectations. We don't want players to leave at this point, instead we want to show them what is on the way and let them try the changes out without any extra investments required.
Dome: Fixing the game and getting the PS3 version out sound like quite demanding projects. Is there a date for the PS3 version's release, and how are you going to prioritize these two things?
SE: At the moment we're trying to get the PS3 version ready for March, but to be honest right now it is more important to get the PC version fixed. We owe it to our players and we owe it to ourselves. When all of this is dealt with, we can fully focus on the PS3 version.
Nothing new I guess! Sorry for the grammar.
YUS! PS3 RHIMITATIONS~!!
